] I'm so jealous, Aimee on FUV, which is, for those who don't know a

If you have cable TV, you might want to check with your cable operator
in order to hear the wonderful WFUV..... Most cable companies carry area
FM signals, and with about $5.00 worth of splitter stuff from Radio
Shack, you can hook your stereo receiver's antenna port up to the your
cable TV and pick up the FM signals they carry -- crystal clear. Here in
Northwest Jersey, about 50 miles from NYC, my cable company carries most
of the City's stations, including WFUV 90.7FM. So, I have no trouble
listening to 'FUV, even though I'm almost in Pennsylvania! I'm sure
other cable operators have it, too. Worth checking out! (And even if
your cable company doesn't carry 'FUV, the improved reception overall
makes this little procedure well worth the effort.....)
Happy holidays to all fellow Aimee fans on the list!
George

I recall reading a, not very complementary, piece on the Golden Globes about
one year ago. The article noted the paucity of pre-requs to be listed as a
columnist eligible to vote in the Golden Globes. Recall that the G.G. is a
poll amongst the "foreign press."
Many of these people would probably confuse A.M. with Tomas Mann, for all
they'd know/care.
Consequently, I expect that Ciccone broad to walk away w the kudos.
Oh well,
Cyrinda

Matthew Southworth [matthewsouthworth@hotmail.com] of the Embrionic mailing list

of the film. Everyone go out now and haunt the used CD stores in search of this gem
(these gems?) before it disappears.

Cyrinda mate. I take very strong exception to your remarks about
'the "foreign press." Many of these people would probably confuse A.M.
with Tomas Mann, for all they'd know/care.'
Get real, will you. The world doesn't revolve around the US of (expletive
deleted) A. Aimee Mann has many fans outside her own country and the rest
of the world is far less in thrall to the commercial obsessions of Hollywood
than Americans (as a whole) are. If anything that makes it far more likely
that Aimee would win a GG than an Oscar.
But, frankly, does anyone care whether she wins it or not? I'd be very
happy for her, of course, but it doesn't really mean anything.

Hello,
Regarding Cyrinda's comment about the "foreign press"...it is true that the
world doesn't revolve around the US(although just coming back from Costa
Rica and seeing a McDonald's, KFC and of all things a Taco Bell in San Jose
gives one pause). However, it is well known in the entertainment business
that the Hollywood Foreign Press Association is a sham group that pretty
much just mooches off of the studios. The group comprises of about a 100
"journalists" who are famous for the amount of studio junkets they go on.
They have had several scandals most famously Pia Zadora's husband buying
the "Best New Actress" award a few years back. Nobody really takes the
Golden Globes seriously except the studios who use the awards to market
their movies. That's why it's the best awards show to go to or watch
because everyone shows up drunk and has a rip roaring good time as opposed
to the seriousness of the Oscars. I'm sure Cyrinda wasn't ripping the
foreign press in general, just this one group in particular.

I have one little pet peeve about the Golden Globes: Why wasn't REM nominated
for The Great Beyond for Man In The Moon. Great song, would be more worthy
compatation for Aimee then Mad-Donna :) or Babyface and Phil Collens.

]they won't have Pia performing a medley of the nominated songs...
......does anyone else remember years ago when they hired Ann Reinking to
sing (and subsequently butcher) Phil Collins nominated song for "Against
all Odds" on the OScars - this after he said he'd be more than happy to do
it himself.....those Hollywood bigshots - go figure.....i think if i
saw/heard Pia Zadora singing "Save Me," it would cause me irreparable
frontal lobe damage and i would lapse immediately inta a catatonic state.

hey guys...
the new jersey paper "the star legder" printed this in their "today" section
on mon. they were reviewing their fave. pop albums of '99
here it is:
3."Magnolia: music from the motion picture"
Nine of this soundtrack's 13 songs are by Aimee Mann, so it's pretty much a
new Mann album, and an excellent one at that. Like the two other albums she's
released since leaving the pop group 'Til Tuesday, this is a collection of
hook-filled songs chronicling the ups and downs of sometimes satisfying,
sometimes disappointing but always complicated relationships. The
arrangements are inventive but rarely get in the way of Mann's fragile but
calm voice.
hope this is of interest

if aimee, michael and sean (if he shows) sitt together at GG"s - then we
will most likely see alot of aimee and her beautiful self - good press;
then i realized/remembered that aimee's brother in law - sean - is also the
ex-husband of fellow nominee, Madonna! that should make for an interesting
post-GG ceremony party. okay, enough gossip! Aimee's vibe alone is enough
to draw every camera in the place to her. can't wait to see her win!!!

Although it's true that the Golden Globe's were a bit of a farce several
years ago, they have since then seriously cleaned up there act. It's now
considered one of the more respected awards shows. I wouldn't take the show
or it's prestige too lightly. It is now back on Network Television, when a
few years ago you could only find it on Cable. It's a show that will
(hopefully) give wonderful exposure for Aimee.

Again because Paul said I should here is info on how to join the Michael
Pennlist (Pennpals? that's Paul's suggestion).
You can join the list by visiting the following URL:
http://www.onelist.com/community/michaelpennlist
On the right hand side, there is a button labeled, "join community". Follow
the instructions and you're in. If you have trouble just send me an e-mail
(skilroy@earthlink.net) with your name, email addy, etc. Also tell me if
you want daily messages or a digest.
We're currently up to 47 members which is not bad for 3 months. We need
more people who are willing to talk. (Thanks Paul and Andrea, we need you)
Michael's label recently added the list to their website.
Here is the information on Michael's new album. It is called MP4 (Days
since a lost time accident). The new single is called "Lucky Ones". It is
currently being played on WXPN here in Philadelphia, and according to
Michael's management has been released to other stations (call and request
it.) An MP3 of the song is available once you join the list...it's in the
files area.
OK that's it. Hopefully I haven't been too much of a bother.
Spencer

Hi there. You might remember me from a few months
ago. I'd asked someone to post mp3 samples of the new
Aimee ep somewhere and I got a number of angry
responses. First off, my apologies. I just wanted to
know what it sounded like before I bought it but I
understand why everyone was angry and I'm sorry.
Second, I've bought the EP and completely love it!
When does the full length drop? Third, also bought
Magnolia. Totally into it! The new tracks are great!
But about Magnolia, are the versions of the older
songs new recordings or the old versions? Also, is Jon
Brion doing production on the new record or is it
Michael?
Another good question for ya, what happened to Jon
Brion's album? I saw an ad for it in a magazine but it
never showed up in stores. Is it not going to be
released? Will there be an import release? Any advance
copies floating around? WHAT'S UP WITH IT?!?!?!?!
Thanks in advance for the info and to Aimee, THANK
YOU FOR THE MUSIC AND EVERYTHING!

AIMEE MANN AND MICHAEL PENN LIVE AT LARGO
Aimee Mann and Michael Penn played their last set of the year at Largo
tonight. Patrick Warren returned to play keyboards after his recent tour with
Melissa Etheridge. Also on hand were the usual suspects, Buddy, Joe and
Michael Paines.
There was good news and bad news tonight. The good news, Aimee was positively
glowing when she came out on stage. The bad news, she was running a fever.
More good news, she played a powerful, compact set that included several of
her best new songs.
IT'S NOT SAFE: Acoustic, strong and clear.
SAVE ME: One of her best songs, a signature tune.
CALLING IT QUITS: Backed by a canned rhythm track. Buddy really soared on the
leads.
GHOST WORLD: This song gets better and better for me. Buddy's guitar is just
right.
JACOB MARLEY'S CHAIN: Michael Paines added violin and Michael Penn played
drums.
WISE UP: Passionate and right to the point. Buddy and Michael Penn provided
harmonies.
YOU DO: The audience played along with spoons and forks and glasses and we
got it right! Listening to this amazing chorus of silver tonight, I wondered
what in the hell the people at Interscope were thinking when they passed on
these songs. YOU DO is easily one of Aimee's best-ever tunes and I've had it
stuck in my brain for weeks now.
Michael's set was strong too.
LONG WAY DOWN
BABY DON'T WANT ME AROUND
HIGH TIME
OUT OF MY HANDS: Aimee sang the harmonies and they sounded like angels
together.
PERFECT CANDIDATE
BUCKET BRIGADE
LUCKY ONE
NO MYTH: Aimee and Michael shared the lead vocals.
Also noted: There was a copy of "Clownhenge" on Ebay recently that went for
$50 bucks. Buddy says that he's going to have some more pressed in time for
the winter tour of the east coast.
And finally: Idle patter or the pitter patter of little feet? You make the
call. Mary Lynn, Aimee's comic inner voice between songs, blurted out tonight
that she was pregnant. She was in character as Aimee at the time. The energy
got very weird on stage for a couple of seconds and then Mary Lynn backed up
and tried to smooth over the gaff with Aimee. It didn't work. Hey, I've heard
Mary Lynn spout some pretty weird shit before. Maybe she was just going for
the laugh. Maybe-I don't know. I'm just telling you what happened on stage
tonight at Largo. Paint your own pictures.
Watching the show,
John

Paul mentioned Infinitely Blue morphing into something new...
It's true.
IB looks very different now. I had hoped to finish all the links on the new
site before I left home for these last few Aimee shows but it didn't happen.
Yet.
I return home on Wednesday and I hope to have the RealAudio server linked up
by Christmas eve. Keep watching the list for the next couple of days and I'll
post a link if I can make the stream flow. I have RealProducer and FrontPage
running on Interland. Now would be a wonderful time for you tech gurus to
stand up and be counted. Any thoughts on how to smoothly upload the audio to
the Interland RealAudio server? Please contact me off list.
Audio? What?
That's right, INFINITELY BLUE just went monthly and every "issue" features a
new link to RADIO AIMEE. Tune in often because we'll feature plenty of rare
songs and live performances by Aimee Mann. We'll also share unique material
by Buddy Judge, Clayton Scobel, Jon Brion, Brian Stevens and many more.
You won't be able to make digital recordings of these performances but they
sound really good on most computers.
This month's featured track is Jacob Marley's Chain, recorded live in a small
club setting with Jon Brion. We also have a unique secret track for you but
if I told you any more, it wouldn't be a secret, would it?
Isn't life great?

]drums.
]WISE UP: Passionate and right to the point. Buddy and Michael Penn provided
]harmonies.
]YOU DO: The audience played along with spoons and forks and glasses and we
]got it right! Listening to this amazing chorus of silver tonight, I
]wondered
]what in the hell the people at Interscope were thinking when they passed on
]these songs. YOU DO is easily one of Aimee's best-ever tunes and I've had
]it
]stuck in my brain for weeks now.
]
]Michael's set was strong too.
]LONG WAY DOWN
]BABY DON'T WANT ME AROUND
]HIGH TIME
]OUT OF MY HANDS: Aimee sang the harmonies and they sounded like angels
]together.
]PERFECT CANDIDATE
]BUCKET BRIGADE
]LUCKY ONE
]NO MYTH: Aimee and Michael shared the lead vocals.
]
]Also noted: There was a copy of "Clownhenge" on Ebay recently that went for
]$50 bucks. Buddy says that he's going to have some more pressed in time for
]the winter tour of the east coast.
]
]And finally: Idle patter or the pitter patter of little feet? You make the
]call. Mary Lynn, Aimee's comic inner voice between songs, blurted out
]tonight
]that she was pregnant. She was in character as Aimee at the time. The
]energy
]got very weird on stage for a couple of seconds and then Mary Lynn backed
]up
]and tried to smooth over the gaff with Aimee. It didn't work. Hey, I've
]heard
]Mary Lynn spout some pretty weird shit before. Maybe she was just going for
]the laugh. Maybe-I don't know. I'm just telling you what happened on stage
]tonight at Largo. Paint your own pictures.
]
]Watching the show,
