.
.1. What is your name
Nathan Roberts
.2. How old are you
27 on March 21st
.3. What is your job/grade in school/etc.
I'm Art Director for G.S.i.
.4. How did you first hear about Aimee/Til Tuesday?
I used to be really into RUSH and one of my favorites was "Time Stand
Still". I knew Rush didn't tend to work with other artists so I was curious
about the female backing. I found Aimme's name and when I heard she had an
album out of her own ("Whatever") I decided to see what it was like... The
rest, as they say, is history.
.5. What are your favorite Aimee Mann/Til Tuesday songs?
1: Stupid Thing (Whatever)
2: Make a Killing (I'm With Stupid)
Aimee is one of my several artists I'm into that my favorite song on any one
of her albums constantly changes. I think this phenomenon is how you know
you really like someone's music a lot. (or maybe I'm just Fickle!)
.6. What was the first album you bought from either Aimee or Til
.Tuesday?
"Whatever" (see above)
.7. Do you own any singles or bootlegs or any other rare or semi-rare
.things?
I have the "Stupid Thing" UK single with 3 acoustic tracks on but It only
works on my PC's CDROM unit?!
.8. Do you own any books or posters of Aimee?
No.
.9. Who are your other favorite bands?
Radiohead, Echobelly, Richard Thompson
.10. Who are your favorite authors/books?
I stopped reading about 2 years ago but I used to like most modern (life)
fiction (Milan Kundera, Martin Amis, Julian Barnes, etc..)
.11. What hobbies do you have?
I have a 5 month old son so I don't have much time for hobbies but I play
Bass Guitar in a band (another reason I'm so intrigued by Aimee) and I have
a N64 which I enjoy playing on. I also like 3D modeling/rendering.
.12. Do you play any musical instrument. If so which one(s).
I play Bass in "Big Time Charlie Potatoes", a Manchester(UK) based 3-piece.

Hi, my name is Chelsea, and I'm an Aimee Fann. (mumbled chorus in response:
Hi, Chelsea.) I'm twenty, and I first heard Aimee when I was about ten and
she was in Til Tuesday. They played a show at the legendary Boston club the
Channel which was open to all ages (with special guests O+Positive), and my
dad took this literally and brought me along. Though it wasn't as fun as my
first concert, Richard Thompson at the Newport Folk Fest, the show blew me
away, it was so fun and melodic - I was toddling around the house singing
"Voices Carry" and "David Denies" for a long time after that. The first
recording by Aimee that I purchased was either the single for "Voices
Carry" or "What About Love", and my favourite Aimee songs are "Fifty Years
After the Fair", "Other End Of The Telescope", "Fourth of July", "Driving
with One Hand on the Wheel"...there are a few others that I can't honestly
call my faves, but that touch me nonetheless. (While it's not my fave, I
can't listen to "Par for the Course" without crying.) Sadly, I own nary a
bootleg, though I have both "Driving" and "Jimmy Hoffa Jokes" (don't get
too excited). My boyfriend has the _I'm With Stupid_ poster of Aimee in
funky silver pants, and I have the book _Angry Women In Rock_ with a
portion on her. Other favourite bands include: Bob Mould/Sugar/Husker Du,
Tori Amos, Syd Straw, PJ Harvey, Tsunami, Ida, Richard Thompson, Elvis
Costello, Beth Orton, Liz Phair, Chris Butler and related bands, Nilsson,
Velvet Underground, Galaxie 500/Luna/Damon & Naomi, Sleater-Kinney,
Geraldine Fibbers, Push Kings, the Beatles (circa '66),Nina Simone, TMBG,
Stereolab...the list could go on for *days*. My favourite authors include
Virginia Woolf, Dorothy Parker, Anne Sexton, ee cummings, Studs Turkel, and
Lynda Barry, and my favourite film directors are Hal Hartley, Nicolas Roeg,
and Erroll Morris. I play bass horribly; though you would never guess it
from my flaming screeds on this list, my best tools are my words. I publish
a zine called _Cinnamon Stick_ and am working on a documentary called _Pop
Phenomenon_, a compendium of women in indie pop and their oral histories.
Never, ever get me started on Jewel. Or Meredith Brooks. Or the Lilith Fair
in general, for that matter.
