Dismiss this as another rationalization if you wish, but I receive dozens of e-mails daily, and my "default mode" when continuing a conversation is to reply promptly and keep the momentum going. Once the "last word" has been posted and the thread dies down, if it is worth saving then I have one message that contains the entire conversation and I may delete all of the rest. I freely admit that I have not been mindful of the havoc this creates for subscribers to the MM Digest, and I apologize for the netiquette breach. In my defense, however, MM-related messages are the only ones in my inbox where I *need* to be mindful of this practice. Rest assured that there was no malice here, only a lack of consideration that Matt was perfectly justified to point out. Like Bruce, all I can do is strive to be a better MM citizen going forward, and to that end I have two suggestions: 1) When replying to the entire list, consider composing a brand new message with an introductory reference that makes it clear you are continuing an existing thread ("Billie Joe says it's distracting when Robert Plant accompanies Patty on stage, but...") 2) When reading a Digest message, activate the "Find" command (CTL-F on a PC) and search for "MM:". Once you get past the list of "Today's Subjects" at the beginning, every time that you come across something you've already read, simply click "Next" until you land on something new.
