[Steve Berry Subject: MM: Re: RE: (no subject) Actually, I think Patty has been quite busy. The release date for "Downtown Church", her album of gospel songs, should be announced soon. Jennifer Caputo recently reported the following news from Patty's manager at www.pattygriffin.net: "Patty's been writing a lot of new songs so she'll be in the studio recording those in the near future. We should have a record of new Patty songs sometime early in 2010" Patty was on David Letterman this past Tuesday providing backup vocals for Ian McLagan and the Bump Band (See attached). She had a short solo (with band) tour in late April and early May and has spent much of 2009 on the 3 Girls & Their Buddy Tour with 7 show scheduled between June 23 and July 3, plus a solo appearance at the Kate Wolk Festival. Her official website (www.pattygriffin.com) is undergoing a makeover right now. It redirects to her FaceBook page which is temporarily operating as her official site. She has lent her voice to variouse songs on many recently released albums, including the song "Chalk" form Buddy and Julie Miller's "Written In Chalk" album. "Chalk", which was written by Julie Miller, has been nominated as song of the year by the Americana Music Association. Because I felt that no Patty Griffin site was adequately keeping up with all that Patty was doing, I started www.pattycentral.com a couple of months as attempt to do just that. I'm hoping that the remake of the official website will make PattyCentral unnecessary (keeping up with all she's doing is a lot of work these days), but for now, if you really want to know what Patty is doing and will be doing, check it out PattyCentral. I like his vocals but I don't think he puts on a show like patty does, band or no band. He pulls his set list out of nowhere and he took his time deciding what to do. I did, however, get a recording of him playing Tupelo Honey. He was asking the audience what we wanted and someone said "Tupelo Honey". And he did. And a lot of the audience joined in for about 100 rounds. I will be posing it soon email me If you want to see it. His opener was Katie Herzig. I was impressed. She has a unique voice and nice accompaniment. There is a read head that plays the accordion, ukulele, and guitar. I love seeing people who can play so many things in one show. I was able to buy a CD outside the show and meet her. She was very nice and chatty. She said that she was on Cayamo. I am so jealous of all of you that got to go. I would love to see Tupelo Honey. Great song. I saw Marc a couple of times last year. Sam Phillips opened for him and I helped him and her out on the merch table. He was very nice, once he realized that I was helping him for free (I was really just there for Sam). Met him back stage after one of the shows.
