Because I live in L.A. but work regularly in Denver, I have probably seen an equal number of shows in both places. It seems to me that she didn't come to southern California for about three years before her "mini-show" at Hotel Cafe and headlining performance at The Wiltern. I felt the crowd at The Wiltern was tremendously supportive, which I hope will translate into more regular swings to L.A. by Patty. By contrast, the July 31 show (shameless plug: for which I have an extra ticket!) will be at least the fifth show in the Denver area in the past 13 months. My wife and I saw her at the Boulder Theater (capacity 975) last summer, and I had to get my tickets from a scalper. She returned to the same venue in late March and played a Thursday and Friday. The Friday show sold out but tickets were still available for the Thursday show that same afternoon. According to a local newspaper, Denver Botanic Gardens seats a little more than 2,000 for concerts, and Patty is also playing Chautauqua Auditorium in Boulder the night before (Monday, July 30). Capacity at Chautauqua is 1,300, and that show has not yet sold out, either.
