I am glad to hear Patty played a 'request'. Does anybody have any idea why she does not take requests? Just curious. Thanks, Jessica Eugene Wendland wrote: Michigan Theater was packed last night to a much appreciative audience. Patty was in fine form and seemed to really be enjoying herself. It was great to see such a huge crowd but I have to admit that I enjoyed the much more intimate performances at the Ark. It looks like the days of seeing her at a small venue in this area are gone. BTW - she looked great - actually MOTOR CITY HOT! I grabbed the setlist after the show and it's posted on the photogallery link below. It's interesting because this is only setlist I've seen that was printed on a computer, rather than written out by hand. A few exceptions - she added "Forgiveness" that someone's requested. Before playing it she commented that she "doesn't do requests - but must be softening with age." Also noticed that she calls "Up to the Mountain", MLK It looks like she had wrote down a choice of six songs for the encore, and settled for three; "Rain","Long Ride" and "Getting Ready". Earlier in her career, doing a solo show at Oberlin College, she decided to sing "Not Alone" based on something she had seen on T.V. earlier that day. A couple bars into the song - she went blank, but then the audience began singing the next few bars and away she went. Great Patty moment. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 27 Apr 2007 11:45:12 -0500 From: "Jeanne" Subject: Re: MM: Ann Arbor show pics and set list Ahhh--I was there for that. I was reading a news item on IMDB this morning about last night's American Idol episode and it said, "Another Idol winner, Kelly Clarkson, performed gospel standard 'Up To The Mountain' with British guitar great Jeff Beck." Gospel standard! While I definitely think Patty should have gotten credit, that's actually quite a left handed compliment. My friend Jack Hardy who is a brilliant original songwriter says that the greatest compliment is when somebody thinks his song is a traditional song--means he's done his job as a songwriter and written something universal, with appeal that it doesn't even matter who wrote the song but the song matters and will live on, take on a life of it's own. That's the real gift--that's a true stamp of success for a songwriter. I already knew that Patty was an amazing songwriter, but when her songs are getting mistaken for "standards" I'd say that's kind of cool in it's own right... Hey Everyone, Kelly Clarkson's version of Up to the Mountain is now up on ITunes. We were thinking it would be awesome if some folks could leave reviews for the song on ITunes saying it's a Patty song and available on her new album, maybe get her a little exposure?!? Anyone up for it? It would be really awesome to make that connection between Patty's music and Patty the artist! Get her a few new fans perhaps? Hi Jen - I know how to purchase songs from iTunes and I saw that Up to the Mountain was the 8th most purchased Kelly Clarkson song as of tonight, but how do you leave comments? I'd do it but I don't see where there's a comments section. Please let us know. Thanks! Cathy In a message dated 4/27/2007 6:56:40 P.M.
