In my email client, I can turn on of off the "quote message" feature when I need to. Could be because I'm on the digest list. And I'm curious, why wouldn't everyone want to be on the digest? Far fewer emails to contend with! Quoting messages is a very important need in order to discuss things on the list. There really couldn't be ANY ongoing discussion without it. That said, proper quoting is a must too. Think of every single reader of this list as both a reader of your post and a customer. You want your voice to be heard and point/message understood, and proper construction of your post or reply can aid greatly in that. A...for lack of a better word at the moment... poorly constructed email can add to the sentiment that some people say the list is a "chore" to wade through at times. This includesa post with lack of quoting, as depending on the reply people may not know what you are referrring to. >And I'm curious, why wouldn't everyone want to be on the digest? Far >fewer emails >to contend with! Timliness of posts. Say a post comes in at 11:30am saying that Patty will be live on the radio in Nashville that afternoon and there's a web feed etc. The next digest would not be published until the day's list volume tops 18K or until 1:35am the next day. If everyone was on digest that post would be worthless. Being on loose mail, as we call it, also adds to the ability to carry on discussion. Both versions of the list have their advantages. (and believe you me, compared to the peak days of this list and the Jewel list I also run, the amount of daily email on this list is NOTHING. It's quite small). As a matter of fact, I Do believe someone else made a similar onlist post a month or so ago)..." Well said about the quoting! It was me who posted about deleting stuff out of emails a short while back, and it did not seem to have an effect, so thanks for bringing it up again. I had gotten to the point of not reading the emails sometimes, because of having to wade through so much stuff I had read 100 times before... Anyhow, guys and gals, I love reading news about Patty, but once is enough, right? :-) Rock on! CK ------------------------------ End of mad-mission-digest V11 #99 *********************************
