Please reply to this email with your mailing address, and I'll get them out to you. If too many reply, I may be able to do B&P for more. Thanks, Holly (Booms) Walsh ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 13 Mar 2007 11:13:11 -0700 From: "Karen" Subject: MM: Branches of the Loft I also have downloaded the XM Radio Loft Sessions and made my first CD. Without the commercials (I assume there were) it's not quite an hour, but the quality is great and the overall sound is wonderful. I find it very relaxing late at night or whenever I need to calm down. All acoustic, just the way I like it! I can take about 5 or so requests for copies. It is wonderful: Just you, the music and the DJ (who loves music). I don't have the best memory, but it was a great show and there were some moments worthy of commemorating: In not-particularly-correct order, she played: opened with a Sam Cooke (?) song (don't remember the name of it) Stay on the Ride Burgundy Shoes First Star Useless Desires Trapeze Up to the Mountain No Bad News When it Don't Come Easy Be Careful Love Throws a Line I Don't Ever Give Up Top of the World Heavenly Day Sweet Lorraine Let Him Fly Gettin Ready The only ones I'm sure about in terms of order are the first song and the last 2 songs. The audience was really appreciative and cool (even the insanely drunk girl sitting next to us who cat-called and yelled stuff at Patty all night - it clearly came from a place of pure appreciation and excitement about seeing Patty so I thought it was pretty funny). Patty got a couple of standing ovations throughout the night and seemed to be enjoying herself quite a bit. She made several quips and jokes throughout the evening, but it was difficult to hear over the whoops and hollers of the audience, coupled with the fact that the sound in the club was pretty bad, in my completely uneducated opinion. People freaked out when she played Sweet Lorraine, myself included, but I thought I was going to have a heart attack when she sang Let Him Fly, with Doug doing the guitar part. She smiled through the whole song and gave it such a great, positive interpretation and she sounded amazing - what a treat to get to hear her sing it live! The grand finale was Gettin' Ready, at which point the drunk girl next to us got up and began dancing in the aisle. She was quickly joined by another girl, and then they danced up to the stage, unleashing a rush of people all dancing their way up to the stage. It was such an amazing moment - the whole area in front of the stage and a good portion of the aisles were filled with people jumping, singing, and dancing their arses off. It was the kind of audience energy I never expected to see at a Patty concert - my boyfriend declared it the first ever Patty Griffin mosh pit. You could tell she got a big kick out of it because she and the other musicians were laughing a bit, and really put their all into the song. Michael Longoria seemed to especially savor the moment, and really let rip on the drums. It was a classic Patty concert moment for me, right up there with Patty's dog runnin' out on stage in the middle of Florida, and a perfect end to a really great evening. Hopefully it won't be another 2 years before she comes to visit us again! - -Jennifer - -- ~ -- ~ -- ~ -- ~ -- ~ -- ~ -- ~ -- ~ -- ~ -- ~ -- ~ -- ~ -- ~ -- ~ - -- ~ -- ~ -- ~ -- Change the world one loan at a time - visit Kiva.org to find out how ------------------------------ End of mad-mission-digest V11 #81 *********************************
