These days, with all the money that follows the science of the charts/formats business, I enjoy just listening to the music. Mike ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 22 Feb 2007 08:15:07 -0800 From: "Lawrence Israelson" Subject: MM: ticket-ordering stress Reading the tales of the Boston on-sale, it sounds like we should start a support group. We really sound like addicts jonesing for a fix. It was weird, too, because I'm usually amped when desirable tickets go on sale, not a bundle of nerves. At least now I know I'm not alone... (sniffle) Some practical things I learned while moaning and cursing during the Wiltern on-sale (and, incidentally, I ultimately got fine tickets): Once you know which website will be selling the tickets you want, register (or double-check your existing access) at least a few days in advance. ("Same-day" profile changes may not take effect in time for the sale.) Over the years I have made purchases on ticketmaster.com using four different e-mail addresses, and I wasn't always consistent when setting up my passwords. So, when the big moment came to get my Patty tickets, I briefly choked and almost sabotaged myself. Since that scary moment, I have updated all of my Ticketmaster profiles with my current address and credit card info, and made the passwords for all four accounts identical. Also, since some websites only give you a minute or two to enter a lot of information, consider having a Windows Notepad file or Microsoft Word document open on your desktop from which you can cut and paste longer data elements such as your street address and credit card number. Finally, be aware that ticketmaster.com now apparently counts the number of times you hit the "refresh" button, and the website may temporarily freeze you out if it decides your number of refreshes is "unfair" to others attempting to purchase through the site. Anyway, he is the one that brought Patty into their studios for the live performance I wrote about a couple of weeks ago. It should air in a few weeks I hope.
