Both are awesome venues and I am sooooooooo happy that Patty is coming back to the Bay Area!! Oh yes, I must also say I am in musical heaven with the new CRT. It is amazing to hear Patty's voice on these new songs! Burgundy Shoes has been on repeat for days!! Ah yeah I love her! Ok, back to lurking. Have a good weekend all. I always wanted Patty to succeed but I guess I am totally priced out forever now. I will have to remember the old days when I saw her in small venues from 6 feet away. Maybe I am reading the info wrong or something. Dana in Antioch ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 11 Feb 2007 17:13:09 -0500 From: Charl Kroeger Subject: MM: Bad iTunes quality.... I wrote them as well, Thank you shyam yadav, Lisa and the rest of you who brought this up. Hopefully our continued efforts will lead to a change. Here was iTunes response... - ---- Dear Chris, I'm sorry to hear that "Children Running Through" didn't meet the standard of quality you have come to expect from the iTunes Store. Apple takes the quality of the products offered on the iTunes Store very seriously and will investigate the issue you reported. I have reversed the charge for your purchase. The credit should be posted within 3-5 business days. Please wait a couple of weeks before purchasing the title again. The issue you reported should be resolved by then. I hope that you continue to enjoy purchasing music from the iTunes Store. Thank you for choosing iTunes and have a good day. Sincerely Jeni iTunes Store Customer Support - ---- I purchased the album "patty griffin - children running through" last week. The itunes downloaded files for the album are of low volume and quality. Can you re-issue the songs for this album with better sound quality or offer me a refund? Sincerely, Chris Negrin - ---- ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 11 Feb 2007 15:39:22 -0800 From: "Lawrence Israelson" Subject: Re: MM: concert tix/Warfield, SF At ticketmaster.com the prices are $27.50-$30.00, not including their obscene profit margin, excuse me, "convenience charges." It looks like your "friends" at Coast to Coast Tickets need to update their slogan from "Great Tickets from Nice People" to "Great Tickets from Shameless Profiteers." It's funny, though, how seeing $15 in various fees added to a $30 ticket can really set me off, but I've willingly paid triple face value to a scalper for a ticket to a sold-out Patty show. I guess that makes me some sort of enabler, but at least I managed to be the "initial buyer" for each of my tickets on the CRT tour. ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 11 Feb 2007 16:32:47 -0800 From: "Lawrence Israelson" Subject: MM: the "accessibility" of Heavenly Day First, please, PLEASE don't take this personally, Murph, just because you raised the subject. I must say, however, that the idea that record companies look for "accessible" songs to push as radio singles just drives me up the wall. To me, "accessible" is industry-speak for safe, non-threatening, just-like-everything-else-on-the-radio music. (And, no, I'm no "insider," but a life-long music lover with a collection that runs the gamut from Edith Piaf to Green Day.) I'm not saying that "Heavenly Day" is tripe, far from it. The melody is lovely and Patty's vocals are terrific. I just know that last week, while CRT was emanating nearly nonstop from the iPod dock on my desk, when a co-worker stopped to ask "Who IS that?" it was never while "Heavenly Day" was playing. Put another way, if I were commissioned to put together a 90-minute career retrospective CD of Patty Griffin's music, "Heavenly Day" would be hard-pressed to make the cut. If Patty were an established "hit-maker" with a built-in radio audience for her newest release, that would be one thing. But, if the first single from a new album by an artist with no proven radio track record generates lukewarm response, will subsequent singles even be considered for airplay? Honestly, I hope I am wrong, and that the good folks at ATO (and hell, maybe it was Patty's decision) are smarter than me when it comes to promoting new CDs. Perhaps "Heavenly Day" will do for Patty what (first thing that popped into my head) "Just The Way You Are" did for Billy Joel. It just pains me that somebody with Patty's peerless combination of songwriting chops and singing ability is still waiting for "mainstream success" after all these years. I found the Ticketmaster site and was trying to get them there at the $30 price which is doable but could not remember my TM password and had to leave for work without tix, knowing that they could sell out at any minute. I ended up calling TM and ordering tix that way- much happier now!!!! I also checked the Santa Cruz concert site, The Catalyst, and got tix for there as well, for $19. So, all is well. It looks like about 20 concerts lined up right now- I would happily go to a lot more of them but the bank does like it when I go to work. :) 2 Patty concerts 2 nights in a row is pretty good. Happy, Happy.....She is still my fave singer-songwriter after all this time.
