Thank you to those who emailed with such helpful info (both on- and off-list). I had read from several sources that when you upload songs to the iPod, it converts them into Apple's own format (which would be the AAC you mention). Since it was part of the reason I never bought an iPod, I guess I should have done more research before accepting it as the ultimate truth. So thank you for clearing that up -- it's good to know that iPods do in fact play mp3s. That'll help in my future decision whether to continue going Pod-less. The rest of my rant still holds, though :) And Bruce made some extra points that I didn't mention for the sake of (slightly) shortening my rant. - -Lisa - ----- Original Message ----- From: "Bruce Greenberg" Sent: Saturday, February 10, 2007 3:04 PM Subject: RE: MM: Re: the order of it all. > If you're going to be arrogant (and a bit mean) toward someone, you > should at least show that you know what you're talking about. Yadav" Subject: MM: you know you're right... hi lisa. you know you're right. i should be upset about the inferior itunes sound for "children running through". so i went online and it took me FOREVER to find the place to complain via email to the apple.com itunes store. but i found it! i wrote the following to them: ######### i purchased the album "patty griffin - children running through" the other day. i also bought the cd from a cd store (different tracks on the store bought cd which is why i bought that copy also). what i noticed is that the itunes downloaded files for the album are far inferior quality wise. the sound is low and muted while the mp3s i made from the store bought cd sound fantastic. i want to find out why this is and if apple can re-issue the songs i purchased from them for this album with a better sound quality or offer me a refund/credit. sincerely, shyam yadav ######## they wrote back today (the same day as the complaint) the following: Dear Shyam, I understand your purchased album "Children Running Through" has poor sound quality as it is low and muted. I would like to go ahead and refund this purchase, however the order containing this item is currently processing. Your request is flagged for follow-up and I will contact you once I have more information about your order. Please note that processing can take up to five business days from the date of purchase. Thank you for your patience in this matter. Sincerely, Doug iTunes Store Customer Support so i'll let you all know if i got refunded. the place to complain and ask for a refund is at the bottom of the page this link directs you to. http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/store/buy/ - -shyam. ____________________________________________________________________________________ Don't get soaked. I thought that Patty was in fine form, looked great, performed beautifully and that "Heavenly Day" is a really fine song. As it turned out I only listened to the new CD for the first time at abt. 9;00 (since it had just arrived in my mail) and then was seeing her on TV 3 hours later. BTW: Letterman has become kinda lame... what happened to this guy's acerbic wit and clever bits?? I mean, 20 minutes of animals, including a two-headed turtle - what's the world coming to?! Eric .
