You don't seem very bothered by this. If I had bought the cd on iTunes and dicovered this, I would be pretty upset, especially since they're basically forcing you to buy the whole cd for one song. I dunno whose idea this whole thing was, but these exclusive track things are starting to get to me. It's one thing with with B&N - ok, so I spent a couple more dollars than I might have otherwise, but at least I got the same cd I would have bought elsewhere PLUS extra songs. I didn't LOSE anything by buying from B&N (as long as you know about these things before you buy the cd elswhere, you can do it right the first time). But I do not own an iPod, have not found a reason to install iTunes, and hate the idea of being forced to do all this PLUS spend $10 on a cd I already own to get one song. One of the main reasons I haven't bought an iPod yet, despite the many times I've ALMOST bought an iPod, is that it won't play mp3s. So why the hell would anyone WITHOUT an iPod want to buy songs in whatever format they are if they're of inferior quality and not even going to be playing on a freakin iPod?!?!? I'm not going to support Apple & iTunes just for the hell of it. Ok, I'm done ranting. And maybe I'm overreacting. But really, as much as I love Patty, I wish she wouldn't let her songs be used in this ridiculous manner. She has plenty of devoted fans, some who already buy multiple cds for friends and relatives. Hi there, I also found the volume extremely low, but I thought it was just plain bad mastering. But it turns out it is iTunes that messed up the conversion? I think they need to be given a good yelling at for delivering such an inferior reproduction of the album. Don't they have quality control people there? How could they pass this off as a full and legal copy of the album when it's so obviously inferior? Apple? iTunes? Anyone out there listening??? Wake up, or you will lose me as a customer. I am not going to lay down hard-earned money for inferior quality like this! I also bought the B&N version too, so will follow your advice on setting up the album on my iPod. Thank you for sharing this, Shyam... If you're going to be arrogant (and a bit mean) toward someone, you should at least show that you know what you're talking about. So, for those who don't know... The ITunes Music Store downloads files in the AAC format and uses Apple's own digital rights management (which means you can't put the songs on any other player without going through a few extra steps). ITunes and the IPOD though are capable of playing not only AAC files but also mp3 files. My IPOD only has mp3s on it and even though I ripped all of my CDs with the Microsoft Media Player, I am able to listen to them with ITunes. There is a lot to be angry about these days. I know Patty isn't the first artist to have less than acceptable sounding files on ITunes. I'm not sure whose fault it is though. It may be Apple, but it could also be the record company's fault. And this digital rights management has to go away (Steve Jobs finally agrees!). If I download a song from ITunes I should be able to play it on any software/mp3 player I wish to. Just a bit more info that may be helpful to some... If you download a song from the ITunes Store, then burn it to a CD (which Apple will let you do), you can then rip that CD into mp3s using most any burning/ripping software (Microsoft Media Player for example); bypassing the digital rights management. I hope I didn't waste everyone's time with this email. We all have different amounts of knowledge about all of this stuff. I'm just trying to be helpful.
