Intimate would be more like it... Unless you are in the back. For a shot at sitting (yes there aren't many seats) be there by 6pm. You can park in the parking garage in the back (go through the alley to get there). The line is usually started at the back corner of the alley. Because there are so few seats, the handful of tables at the front may be reserved. The stage is even more intimate: Only maybe 2 feet off the ground and there ain't much room there. Don't expect to see Patty dancing around. :-) I was at a double show there one night (they kicked us out for the second show and we had to wait to go back in. I was 5 feet away from Tina Dico (ahhhhh) but did not stay for Jose Gonzalez because his music is so intimate and the crowd was packed all the way to the front door. I wouldn't have seen anything. So, in conclusion... 9 words of advice: Get up front, get up front, get up front. Just walk up to the front of the stage and stay there. If you do, you will have the concert experience of a lifetime. You are soooo lucky. I have never been there and I get the feeling it is rather small. Is it first come first seated? Or do you know if it has seating? Any information would be most appreciated. She had done a few songs with her band, then took a quick break. When she came back, the band was still on break; it was just her and her guitar on stage. She began to sing a capella, and the crowd was dead silent; we were all listening intently to her lovely voice. Then slowly, after about 2 minutes, everyone realized she was actually playing guitar...but there was no sound. At that point, finally people started to giggle. She stopped singing and looked down - her guitar was unplugged. She grinned and said, "I meant to do that." Everyone laughed and cheered. What was cool about this is that it was actually really wonderful to hear her sing with no accompaniment; at first, we all really thought it was a planned a capella treat. As an opening act, she often times just carried 2 guitars, her Gibson for drop D tuning, or maybe some other alternate turning, and the Fox guitar for her standard tuning. Back then, she would very frequently break strings. Only 2 or 3 songs into her set one night, I believe in either Philly or Harrisburg, PA.. she broke a string on one guitar, and finished the song that way. She then picked up the next guitar, and made a comment to the effect of "being screwed if that happens again.." Literally 4-5 lines into the next song, BAM, another string breaks, followed by yet another only a minute or so later.. LOL She finished the next couple songs VERY uncomfortably with a 4 string (not bass) guitar. Very funny, but quite frustrating for her I'm sure. There are so many coming to mind now, her "John Entwistle" moment while getting some low end feedback at an early show.. apologizing for losing her voice due to laryngitis, but taking steroids shots in the butt to get it back.. LOL, whispering "holy shit" to herself (while in total amazement) about an amazingly loud chant for an encore that she got in Grand Rapids, messing up about 4 times during the piano part in Peter Pan while filming for Sessions @ West 54th.. constantly forgetting lines, referring to Dougie as looking like he's on his way to the prom, asking how anyone knew her middle name at a show in Philly, then referring to "that emailing list" as probably the source of that info. Hmm, So many incredibly funny memories from such a serious artist. ..glad my memory isn't failing me too much as I slip into middle age..
