Yes, NPR is National Public Radio. Their website is http://www.npr.org/ and the show she will be on is called All Things Considered. It is their afternoon news show and airs in usually between about 4 pm EST and 7 pm EST. It is a 90 minute show, but stations typically repeat sections. Their segments are always available online a few hours after the show airs. So, even if you miss it, you will be able to hear it later tonight. Scott, What is NPR? I am sure, many like myself, are not certain. (I THINK it means National Public Radio, but am not certain). If so, you think they have a website for others to find stations that carry it? I have 4 tickets I'm selling to Patty's show in San Diego on Sunday March 11 at 6pm. Why am I selling precious Patty tickets? Because I live in Seattle. :) In my excitement about purchasing show tickets, I accidentally selected the wrong show on the Ticketmaster site. D'oh! Ticketmaster says they only do exchanges "on a case-by-case basis." They haven't written back to me about my request to trade the San Diego tix for Seattle ones. I'm selling these 4 tickets for $125 (25 less than I paid). They are awesome tix - within the first 10 rows, I believe. If anyone's interested, I have a pay pal account to use for payment. They are e-tickets so I'd email you the PDF file that Ticketmaster has emailed to me. Thanks for reading! Singer-songwriter Patty Griffin moved to Austin, Texas, for love. She lost the love, but found a musical home. Griffin, whose new CD is called Children Running Through, grew up in Maine - the youngest of seven children, all born within seven years. When she was about 12, she realized she liked to sing more than anything, and that she could get lost in music. "I just started going into my room and literally going into my closet and singing into the clothes" so she wouldn't bother her family, she recalls. When Griffin composes, she says the music and lyrics come at the same time. "It's like sculpture and the rock: You have to chip away at it and not think too much and just keep going," she explains. Griffin's songs are often shot through with a big streak of melancholy - so much so that a friend challenged her to write a "happier song." That challenge resulted in "Burgundy Shoes," a song on her new CD. Griffin says she went back to a happy memory, and one of the first was waiting for the bus to the "big city" of her youth, Bangor, Maine. "When you're little, everyone smiles at you because you're cute, so you think the world's great," she says. "Everything's so vivid. You're not clouded out by anxiety and you don't miss things. You see the sun, and you see your mom's lipstick and how beautiful she is." I haven't written in a long long time. I really didn't have much to report. But I do now... If you do not have an XM sub-scription, either get one or find a friend who has one (www.xmradio.com). Yesterday, Patty spent about 3 hours at The Loft (XM50) recording what should be at least one and a half hours of talking and music. All live Patty performances are special, but this one should go well beyond special. Although the recording has to be edited (she did a few takes on some songs because of sound problems), among the highlights should be: A song in French that she was taught as a child, a song left off the first CD that she converted to piano, much of the new CD and a Sam Cooke cover. If you haven't heard a Loft Session, the artist sits in a room by themselves or with a band and just plays and talks. There is no interviewer and no audience except for those people in the mixing room. I believe Patty had her bass and guitar players with her. The guitar player moved to percussion occasionally. Expect to hear this performance in about a month and a half. And if anyone wants to wish me luck on getting good seats tomorrow when tickets go on sale in L.A., please do. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 2 Feb 2007 20:53:25 -0500 From: lindee37@webtv.net (Lindee) Subject: MM: Western MA any concerts scheduled for my way??
