It is completely insane for Patty to play at the Lizard, I mean this place has a capacity of maybe 150. So for certain anyone going tomorrow who does not have an inside connection is one very lucky and / or dedicated fan. I pulled in a favor for this one myself and will be there and will report back on the evening. It's just Patty and Doug from what I was told and it's a surprise to hear there has been a band at other shows, now I am not sure what to expect. The Lizard is beyond tiny and does not even have a stage, just a few rugs on the floor. Lots of bad sight-lines too for such a teeny bar. Some of you may recall I have taped previous gigs and shared them, but due to the circumstances involved with me getting in the door requires that I do not tape ( if I got caught it would be very very bad news for my ' in ' ). My apologies in advance for leaving the gear at home. All of them with the exception of the Texas shows are promo show to introduce the new CD. The tour starts in March. This is like a dry run to see how things go. If you go back and look the announcement said promo through local radio stations. Just that would have told you tickets would be limited - -----Original Message----- From: owner-mad-mission@smoe.org [mailto:owner-mad-mission@smoe.org] On Behalf Of John Bernhard Sent: Monday, January 29, 2007 7:33 PM To: mad mission Subject: MM: Boston Blues From what I understand the show was pre sold out through the promoter and there really were no sales to the public at all ( although I guess a handful did get sold through the venue ). It happens to be listed right after Lucinda Williams "West" Second, here is what it says under New Songs on WYEP: PATTY GRIFFIN'S new single "Heavenly Day" starts off intimately, with only acoustic guitar and Griffin's powerful voice, but it slowly unrolls into a spine-tingling, gospel-flavored belter complete with a grandiose sting section. It sounds massive. *********** Take that, Rolling Stone! ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 29 Jan 2007 21:41:23 -0500 From: "rockerpgh _" Subject: MM: Entertainment Week on line Here is a review of Heavenly Day: 8. PATTY GRIFFIN, ''Heavenly Day'' This cut off next month's Children Running Through features nicely subtle keyboards from the Faces' Ian McLagan. Not that the folk chanteuse requires too much help as she effortlessly slow-burns her way through an evocation of good times inspired, apparently, by a day she spent with her dog.
