(Man, I hate that word "cover"...wasn't Sinatra "cover artist." Is it ever used non-pejoratively?). It's not that they feel pressured to run out and buy jessica simpson records, it's just that theyi're afraid she'll either do a lousy job and thus do the material injustice, or do a passing job and create even more interest in Patty's music...i.e., direct competition with US. Personally, I don't need Patty getting any more rich or popular than she is right now. She needs to keep touring, every year, in smallish venues, so that people like me can keep seeing her at affordable prices. Bette Midler covered Moses? I had no f----in' idea. WHere can I hear that? Interesting, BM must be a has been, didn't hear anything about that (or else I was just sleeping at the wheel). Just kidding, A. I'll bet that was a decent cover. Love that song. But I think Patty sings it best, I am sure. Without a doubt. Still cool that BM sang it. I just saw a country singer named Mary Bragg cover that song, and she did it well, but nobody does it like Patty G. herself the lady herself does a great job with her own song there ;0) ________________________________________________________________________ Check out AOL.com today. If that means selling lots of records and arena concerts I'm not sure that Patty is a "mainstream" artist. There some people who don't want to go to that place that Patty's music can take you, and for them there is Jessica Simpson and the like. I wouldn't label any ATO artist as "mainstream" It would be a shame never to be able to see Patty's in an small venue. - ----- Original Message ----- From: To: Sent: Thursday, August 31, 2006 12:42 PM Subject: Re: MM: Jessica Simpson covering Patty > Sorry Mike but ATO and others hope that the new album that is due out in > February explodes PG into the mainstream.
