She has an incredible ear for good tunes and deep lyrics. She has worked on stage with numerous big names like Laurie Anderson, Peter Gabriel and Joe Jackson. Sample her stuff on her website http://www.joyaskew.com and if you have a chance to see her live, do. She is an incredibly accomplished musician with a beautiful voice! I totally agree with the person who posted about Dayna Kurtz.... I saw her on 6/7 in NYC at Joe's Pub, without ever having heard of her before, and by the time I left the show I had bought every album and DVD she has released. TRULY remarkable, especially her latest album "Another Black Feather for the Wings of a Sinner". Last night I saw (for the umpteenth time) another truly awesome artist, Donna De Lory (yes, the same one who is Madonna's backup Singer/Dancer)... She is a real interesting experience when you see her solo. VERY different from Madonna... Much more spiritual and deep, and truly humble and beautiful. http://www.donnadelory.com ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 18 Jul 2006 15:03:36 EDT From: Jynx419@aol.com Subject: Re: MM: Anyone going to Tom Waits? No PG content I've said this elsewhere and the reaction was pretty poor, but to me this is the show to see this year. Only a few are lucky that it is in a city close by while others, me included, will have to take a road trip to get to the shows. If you have never seen Tom Waits, and for me it has been over 20 years ago, but I've seen some of the Boot DVD's, this show should not be missed. Way to go Pam, Have a great time and give us a report on the show afterwards Murph - -----Original Message----- From: owner-mad-mission@smoe.org [mailto:owner-mad-mission@smoe.org] On Behalf Of Jynx419@aol.com Sent: Tuesday, July 18, 2006 2:04 PM To: mad-mission@smoe.org Subject: Re: MM: Anyone going to Tom Waits? Amy, I recommended Sonya Kitchell. And I hope you'll let me know what you thought. Listen for the context as she describes what went into her song writing and remember that she is only 16...I found her to be mesmerizing, then when you add the age factor, she is amazing. I hope you enjoy her. She and Edie Brickell should be a fun combination in a great city location. The LAST thing I expected as a response would have been a web page dedicated to answering that particular question. Gotta love the internet. Ya think there's a web page that answers my favorite airport question? In my local airport (Binghamton NY), in a vending machine they have bags of microwave popcorn for sale. The problem is, there ain't one microwave to be found in any of the passenger areas. So now I'll head to www.microwavepopcorninairportvendingmachines.com to see what I can dig up. MIke P.S.
