I enjoyed it a lot too! I wouldn't call it Oscar caliber, but definitely worth admission (which sometimes is tough to say these days). Anyway, it was cool to see Patty in the movie too. Critics are idiots, don't listen to them, especially in this case. - -Sandi rockerpgh _ wrote: Finally saw it. Enjoyed it also. I give it a 2.5 stars out of 4, which means above average (enjoyable). She even has a line all by herself in front of the podeum at the memorial service! The reason I use the term "idiots" is because I think critics are very small minded in their criticism. This movie was panned as absolutely no good, don't waste your time, from what I recall. I've definitely seen some movies that fall into that category, and this was not one of them. I have found this to be the case with movies that they (and a lot of other people) have said was good - Sideways comes to my mind right away. I found that movie nearly mind numbingly dull, and yet it got rave reviews. But again, that's my opinion. Elizabethtown is a different kind of movie, not a typical romance, not a typical family-based movie. That's what I liked about it. I don't understand many times where critics will get their ideas from . For example - in Elizabethtown, Kirsten Dunst's character does this thing where she makes her hands into a camera and clicks like she's taking a picture to remember something she's looking at. One critic, I recall, said that this was an annoying habit that she does throughout the movie - she did it a total of 3 times, and it's hardly annoying, mostly because it totally fits with her character. I just think there are some people out there who shouldn't be movie critics, because they are, to put it simply, idiots, when it comes to seeing a movie for what it is meant to be. Ok, I'm done now. You can now return to your regularly scheduled e-mail. - -Sandi hugues wrote: Patti is in the movie as well??? I knew Loudon Wainwright was, but Patty? They cut the movie after it showed at Sundance, or somewhere like that, and what was released in theaters is the cut version. I'm assuming Patty's song is on the other one. I did a trailer for it (can't remember if it was on tv or if it was before another movie) and they showed LRH playing in the car while he was driving/crying with his arm up. ??? But instead, in the movie, it was the Elton John song. I'm surprised Patty's song wasn't fit into our version though ... fits the plot perfectly. Oh, and if you wait until the very end credits, Patty sings "Moon River" :) Peace, Sarah ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ You're gonna dance to jah music, dance, We're gonna dance to jah music, dance, Forget your troubles and dance, Forget your sorrows and dance, Forget your sickness and dance, Forget your weakness and dance. . Find it at www.myspace.com/pattygriffin we are going to be putting up rare live and studio recordings every month there also. Last month we started of with "Backwater Blues". "Moon River" is up this month along with "My Dear Old Friend" and a live recording of Truth #2 from the Ryman show of January 2003. It was one of the songs that didn't make the Kiss in Time CD. And in a way to highlight some fantastic new talent, we have added a showcase where one of the many great young singer songwriters from around the world submits a Patty song to us on a monthly basis, we pick what we think is a terrific song and we showcase the artist on Patty's page. This month there is a great cover of "Shell" from a young woman named Angie McClure from Houston, Texas. So if you think there hasn't been anything Patty around lately, stop by both www.pattygriffin.net and www.myspace.com/pattygriffin thanks Murph - -----Original Message----- From: owner-mad-mission@smoe.org [mailto:owner-mad-mission@smoe.org] On Behalf Of Jim Murphy Sent: Monday, November 14, 2005 9:03 PM To: kaycee973@aol.com; mad-mission@smoe.org Subject: RE: MM: Re: Elizabethtown We have had the recording of Moon River up on TDtT since the 1st of the month.
