Someone at the show told me that if I went by the ladies room, I would be able to see Patty and ask her to sign my CD booklet. I figured.. what the hell ... and I went I ran right into Patty. I was starstruck. Blabbering like an idiot and i asked her for an autograph. People started to leave their seats and head out, and I guess she didnt want to be seen signing or start a big signing session.. so she ushered me into the room where the rest of the band was. Here I was... In the same room with Patty, Doug, Michael (for shame that I forget the other guys name...)... ALONE. I just about turned myself inside out with excitement. I actually got a little dizzy. She signed my booklet .. I thanked her profusely and snuck back out. My UNCLE LANCE was supposed to be at the show with me, but he couldnt make it at the last minute... but I sure did call him on the phone and rub it right in!!!!! :) ~Kim - -----Original Message----- From: Jeffrey C. I waited around a LONG time after the show was over to see if I could get Patty to sign my Living With Ghosts CD booklet. Some people who were also waiting said that Patty had the reputation of being shy when confronted with large groups of her fans, so she tended to wait a while before coming out to her bus, to let the crowd thin out a bit. But her people did pass out free Patty posters to those of us diehards who hung around. When she finally came out, she was very sweet, and yes, a little shy. She signed both my CD booklet and the poster (which I have framed and hanging in my living room). She was nice enough to let me babble on for a minute or two about how much certain songs of hers have meant to me at key times in my life. She seemed touched by what I said, and was very gracious. So, I don't think she's snobby at all. But that's just me, based on one experience. Others may have differing experiences. They are a mighty good Australian folk-rock-blues band, and I had a somewhat similar experience to yours when I went to the restroom. I ran into two of the band members, Donna and Josh, and talked to them a bit after the show. I didn't have anything for them to sign, but it was still cool. I'd never been to Joe's Pub before, but what a great venue! I would go back there in a minute. If I have the right to request a song, then shouldn't the other 1000s of people in attendance at the show get a shot too? Why am I so damn special? I've had 2 face to face experiences with Patty. The first was a Borders in-store for Living With Ghosts. She played solo acoustic and signed CD booklets after and was kind but shy. The second was before a show on the 1000 Kisses tour we were in restraunt across from the venue and Patty (and company) sat at a table directly across from ours. Having heard of her shyness, I chose not to bother her. I thought it was cool just to have been that close to her. I'm sure we probably stared a bit and made her uncomfortable enough that way.
