Once again Patty was beyond what I can comprehend. What a blessing to = be able to see Her. I know it sounds clich=E9, but seeing Her brings me = back to center, my ground zero. In the Oregonian two years ago, there = was an author who said "When you step into Her concert you step into Her = world!"... How true that was tonight! I'm going to make a confession. The last two visits to the Aladdin by Patty and the band to promote 1000 Kisses and Impossible Dream were an enjoyable evening, but quite frankly, they were a bit of a let down for me. Tonight, it was just Patty and Doug and I was in heaven. I think Patty hid a little behind her wonderful band the last times out, but when she is responsible for virtually the whole show, man, that woman can soar! It was vintage LFML kind of music and for that kind of performance, I'd break my 2 CD price limit for show. Ok, I've got a lousy memory and there were many songs I've never heard before. So what I can do is list the songs by CD, not by performance order... Living With Ghosts: Moses - this was just amazing Let Him Fly - Played as the first song of the encore and it was as fresh as if it were the first time Silver Bell: What You are - on piano, god it was good 1,000 Kisses: Chief - a crowd favorite Making Pies Long Ride Home - the house went nuts! Impossible Dream: Love Throw a Line Cold as It Get - gave me chills Kit Song Useless Desires - everyone was chair dancing and the house exploded at the end When It Don't Come Easy Patty also did: Ruby's Arms - on piano, OMG, what can I say Moon Song - one of my favorits Four new song, for me anyway: Sad Mood - the show opener. Crying Over Free, Backwater Blues No Bad News Can't wait for the new album And for the final song of the evening, the second song of the encore, ready for this, Moon River. A little strange for a closer, but it was beautiful. Come back soon Patty.... ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 5 Aug 2005 10:27:28 -0400 From: John Bernhard Subject: MM: Patty and Doug tour Does anyone know what the line up will be in Newport RI this weekend? I would love to see Patty and Doug. Seen them do a record store show once and I think that just the two of them is all I would ever need. And i havent seen her play as a "duo" at all (and i've been around....) I had a great time watching her in the sun, and hearing the "bandless" songs like "love throws a line". I did miss the atmosphere of a theatre though, and being able to hear the subtleness of her voice....... but i'll see her again! nice way to spend a afternoon....
