I had to leave for out of town first thing the morning after the concert, and then I got distracted from this task. You can consider this taking off from Don Henn's review. This concert was just the duo of Patty and Doug Lancio. How did it compare with the concert a few weeks earlier with the full band at Dowe's on 9th? Both were excellent, of course. I felt the band version had been superior to earlier concerts with band, perhaps because the band seemed bigger to me. Yet I enjoyed the South Park concert the most, even though it went in the other direction, i.e. it was a sparer sound. Maybe it was because I was able to focus on Patty, the singing and the songs, and all three were excellent. Patty put so much into the performance. She always does, but I was able to experience it better at South Park. Before Florida, Patty talked about when she moved there. When she related this, I knew the song was coming. I lifted my arms into the air. It was the first time I saw Patty perform it, if you can believe that. What a song! No Bad News was the highlight. Yes, there is a single there. Top of the World was better than the album version. I've said that before; don't throw pies! ;) The crowd was raptly attentive. Let me explain this. We were sitting next to a family with three young kids. The kids were accompanying their parents. Luckily they spent most of the time wandering, and any noise they may have made was not near me. This family left fairly early into the concert; it was bedtime. When they left, I did hear kids in the background. But the kids I heard were in the distance, playing beyond the periphery of the concert crowd. The crowd itself, with those playing games off in the distance, was as I said very attentive to Patty and Doug. Good fans! ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 3 Aug 2005 11:19:42 -0700 (PDT) From: Renee Subject: MM: I need a Ticket for Aug 4th in Portland Hey all, I waited too long to get my ticket to see Patty here in Portland on the 4th :o( I am SO bummed.
