Also Eliza Gilkyson, Joan Baez, Dolly Parton, Emmylou Harris, Buddy Miller, Tim O'Brien, Steve Earle and many others. This is 2 days of free music- mostly Bluegrass- with 3 stages in Golden Gate Park in San Francisco. Oct 1 & 2 I think- first weekend in Oct anyway. I went 2 yrs ago and really enjoyed it- meeting Jamie, Evan & Paul there. I hope to make it again this time. Here is a little story. Evan pointed out Warren Hellman to me. He is the benefactor of this festival. So, I went up to him and thanked him for doing this for us and asked him if he was familiar with Patty Griffin. He said "No". I just happened :) to have a copy of the '97 Birchmere concert-solo acoustic- one of my faves- with me and slid it into his pocket and told him she was my fave singer- hoping that maybe he would get into her and she would be at the fest another year. I don't know if he ever listened to it or if EmmyLou's influence is why Patty is on the list now, but I am enjoying the thought that maybe I introduced him to Patty's music. :) So, anyone within driving distance or who needs a reason to go to SF, this fest is a good one. The scenery and weather is beautiful. I remember I wrote reviews every day of the last one I went to. I wonder if she will do any other shows in CA while she is out here. Never enough.
