I just joined! I've been lurking for the past couple of days reading all the posts and thought I'd take a little time to share my thoughts on Patty Griffith, although I'm kinda nervous here spilling my beans and all. But here goes!!! Wish me luck!!!! She's such a wonderful singer! She has a tremendous voice and I'll bet she'll be the next Alanis Morrisette no doubt! whoo hoo!!! You know speaking of, Alanis Morrisette recently became an American Citizen. I wonder if that means her stuff gets dropped from Canadian air-play now. I dig Patty a lot. I wish she'd come here and sing here. Well, I should go now and eat some chocolate cake. Because that's what you do, you know. The chocolate cake thing. You sit around eating chocolate cake a lot if you join the MM list and call Patty Griffin "Patty Griffith." And I might as well open this bottle here. Because you would also be a heavy drinker starting at 8:54am. Yum. And there would be plenty of mistakes in my typing like thsilkf because I would be trying to wipe theklj crumbs off my compmter. From the cake. Chocolate. It's good. Good chocolate cake. LMAO! Is Evil Gary still here? He needs to be all over this email if he is. I thought I saw it on one of the tour pages, but now I can't find it. Do I detect a slight trace of Guinness ? Did you finally tire of Laetitia? Welcome back ! EG may or may not be in Mike's good graces right now , but I'll forward your post to him. Since the In Concert pages at both pg.com and pg.net are maintained by the same people, both of the sites honor the contractual agreements that Patty has with other venues and promoters in the same areas. In this case, Patty is playing in Boston on 5/6. Newport and Boston folk aare in the Boston area so until the 5/6 show is over, we do not advertise for the other shows. Both show will be up on the InConcert pages on 5/7 - -------------- Original message -------------- > Does anyone know if Patty is playing at the Newport Folk Festival in August? It's good to read your typing again (well, I was going to say "good to hear from you" but I just realized how entirely wrong that is). It's been a while and I didn't realize the amazing PG had come out with new albums. I think I was on one of these websites and I thought I saw two new ones. I'll have to get back on the face of this earth to go out and buy those suckers. Laetitia and me, well we had that language barrier thing going on. I couldn't ever talk while there was a pint of Guinness going down my wanting throat. She got tired of that after a while. This pub nearby (well 30 minute drive away) has just recently imported Smithwick's ale on tap. OMG!! I haven't had this stuff since I was living in that Ireland sort of place way back when in college. And it's on tap. *****Oh, keeping this PG*** I went to a PG / Emmylou Harris concert in the ATL like years ago in that ampatheater thing. It was soo awesome!! And it was like a total cookout atmosphere. People with coolers, some with full service food and wine, I so much wanted to meet Patty there, I got there early. But the bus wasn't there yet. So, I decided not to talk to the Harris roadies setting up and park while the parking was still good. So, I saw her there, and I saw her earlier at the Dixie Chix concert in the JAX. With none other than the ultimately famous and fabulous Don Henn!!! And then that was it. Patty doesn't come to nowhere FLA. But now I've moved to SOMEWHERE FLORIDA and she just might make it here!!! She sure as hell better. If David Dundero and Lucero and come here, I think PG needs to step up to the plate. Yes Evil lives and sometimes breaths. For those that have not been to the Newport Folk Fest. I highly recommend this venue. I had a great time seeing Patty there a few years back.
