Almost forgot it again , in spite of a large note on my kitchen counter. Too many distractions on top of creeping senility. Never saw the set list , so ; Useless Desires When it Don't Come Easy Mil Besos The Kite Song The Long Ride Top notch set , & as usual , " Don't Come Easy " & " Kite " stood out for me. Loved Lisa's violin. Strings , piano , & Doug's often subtle , haunting guitar are perfect complements to Patty's style. I'd still like to see Brian's cello back in play. During DCE , I had a 5 year old flashback. I had seen 4 full sets by Patty in late '99 , & was surprised that they were all so good. I knew Patty's music otherwise , thru her first 2 albums , & her best songs culled from 6-8 years of performing & was anxious to see the video from a '97 Nashville concert to compare it with I had seen & heard for a few months. What I did see & hear prompted this comment ; " Patty is scary the way her performance level is always so high. Most performers strive for that level constantly , & only achieve it occasionally ". Still the same. My best theory is that Patty resides within that deepest part of the human soul , that most of us rarely visit. When you express yourself merely as an individual , you lose that human connection necessary to the profound communication that artists aspire to. Also liked her humble comments about her writing process after the set. Well , Patty's kept me up all night again ( w/o sleep that is ). These young women always wear me out :) Can't wait for Patty in the spring. It feels a lot like waiting around. I mean you play and you play and you play and you play , and you hope that the muses show up and throw one your way , you know ? Fill your heart with something.
