I played "Being There" yesterday! (as for me) ... and such a bunch of heartbreaking songs Tweedy wrote there! "The Lonely 1" especially. I was a fan of Wilco way before the buzz. Wilco makes fantastic, beautiful music, and this has nothing to do with the hype. I hate the hypes. First, I like it too much now that Patty's autograph is on it. Second, it seems unfair to Patty to make a profit from her kind deed. Surely there are better ways to make a living. BTW, the "Patty" part of that autograph on ebay looks real, but the extra stuff after "Patty" does not match the one I have. So I wonder if it's a fake. I know mine is real since I was holding my guitar as she kindly signed it. Hmmm. - -Steve _________________________________________________________________ Get fast, reliable Internet access with MSN 9 Dial-up now 2 months FREE! http://join.msn.click-url.com/go/onm00200361ave/direct/01/ ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 13 Jul 2004 08:10:51 EDT From: TimSharp63@aol.com Subject: MM: signed patty guitar on ebay! I agree the 1st name in the autograph looks authentic but the Griffin part does not. I too have a Patty signed guitar (obtained by Murph so I know its real) as well as CD's, posters, etc signed in my presence. Can't this guy be reported to EBay to stop this practice? It is so low and unfair to the artist, purchaser, etc. Tim ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 13 Jul 2004 07:50:03 -0500 From: rhonda n Subject: Re: MM: Re: Patty Griffin and Wilco Steve Berry wrote: > Or "A.M."! How anyone could say that Wilco is not 'the real deal' just blows my mind. I wholeheartedly believe that each of us is entitled to their own opinion, but in this case I am truly shocked and couldn't agree less. > Or "Summerteeth"! In my opinion, a pop masterpiece on the level of the likes of Rubber Soul, Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, Empty Glass, Nebraska and Boys for Pele (among other greats.) If you go and do an advance search on ebay for Patty signed guitars and include completed items you will see that there are 4 different companies offering the same guitar with the same pictures as proof. Please also notice that they never show you a picture of Patty signing a guitar, or a copy of the Moore Theatre Poster that also has been up. What they do is get a small picture signed so that they have something to use as a sample. These days Patty has been signing autographs with only her first name and sometimes she adds the G. Getting a full name signature is rare. The problem with this is most people will not buy an autograph that only contains a first name so they add the scribble at the end.So look at all the guitars and the Posters and the other stuff on ebay and if you want to throw away your money bid away. I was listening to this CD in 2000, along with Lucinda Williams' "Car Wheels On A Gravel Road", Ron Sexsmith's "Whereabouts" and John Cunningham's "Homeless House"... Four aces. Hey gang, I've been quiet for a long time, but I just can't sit quiet on this one, I'm with Steve Del... Call me a protectionist, but I'd never sell my signed guitar. First, I like it too much now that Patty's autograph is on it. Second, it seems unfair to Patty to make a profit from her kind deed. I am also very lucky to have received a copy of the Birchmere concert which is even more special because on track 11, Patty gives a special thanks to Murph and the mmers for their efforts during the Patty Birthday Fundraiser for the Vietnam Vets. Murph gets up and tells the story behind the drive. I've listened to the cd 3 times now and each time, Murph makes me cry. I also, have a signed Patty guitar, from that drive and I'm taking it to my grave! Murph, you made this recording the best one I've ever received from this list. Thanks to Marie and thanks to John, who redid the Birchmere cd set, I am sending back out: Birchmere, 5/11/04, 2 cds First 5 speedy fans... Please send me a mailing address. This set has no gaps between tracks. I am also a long time TR fan. I hope some of you will give his new CD a try. It has just been released in DVD Audio format. The quality is simply amazing. It is mixed in 5.1 surround sound. Impossible dream would be a great canidate for the DVD Audio format. Oh to dream. In August Todd will be in Colorado the same weekend as Patty. I am going to see both again. ===== Mark A.
