Life got ahold of me and I didnt get to mke it :( . I did get to make the show however, and boy do i wish Seattle was more entergetic!! I got scolded twice for being too entergetic, oh well someone had too. Doug is the greatest though...... while waiting he made sure we were furnished with a pen and water. If we missed Patty, he'd catch her for us. . Patty was as sweet as i could ever imagine her to be. Happily signing my poster, and holding the M&Ms i tossed. I met her before, but forgot how small she is!! To everyone in Seattle and beyond, i hope you had a good time.......and showed some enthusiasm :) Rhianon ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 22 Jun 2004 15:45:57 -0400 From: "Donald Henn" Subject: MM: Moore / Seattle 6-21-04 Easy ride to Seattle , no problem finding my hotel , & beautiful weather. Haven't heard Goodbye for awhile so that stood out for me. Also Kite Song & MOG. Don't Come Easy doesn't stand out as much after 20 or more listens , but still a great song & one of my favs. The crowd was pretty good , & gave her an extra wave of applause after Truth # 2. Died down fast when the lights came up after the encore though. Patty talked about her earlier , scheduled appearance at Starbucks here , saying they flew up from CA , were all pumped to play , & apparently Starbucks didn't get the word. She said something like " they were all just sitting around playing jazz ". That had to be hard to take. Could already feel myself winding down , & getting ready to face real life again after a couple of great trips 2500 miles back home. Fortunately , I replaced most of my bad CD comps , & have a 7 disc capacity. I'll still probably have to play everything twice. Off I go. TTYL. I think what happened was that Patty and the band showed up on a Monday and Starbucks/KMTT weren't expecting her until Tuesday. I was bummed when I showed up on the Tuesday to find a sign saying there were scheduling conflicts. Wasn't able to make it to yesterday's Starbucks show. But the evening show was wonderful. I've only been skimming the reviews because I wanted to go in somewhat fresh, so I don't know how much Craig Ross has been discussed. I guess I'll just say he wasn't my cup of tea, and judging by the number of people who got up and left/went to the bar during his set, I wasn't alone in that regard. I'm glad to find out he produced the newest CD...he definitely did a good job with that. Patty was marvelous, as always. She looked great, sounded amazing. For the most part, the band did a great job of enhancing her sound rather than overpowering. Loved the drummer dancing while playing the miked drum thingy (very technical term y'all might not be familiar with). Enjoyed the playful interaction between the accordian player and Patty on Go Now. Doug on guitar was fabulous (only quibble was the wailing on TOTW, which I didn't think was necessary). I was surprised - I had my list of 4 or 5 favorite songs I wanted to hear, and she only ended up playing one of them, and I still thought it was an incredible night. I would have left disappointed with a lot of other artists... As for the crowd enthusiasm, I don't think you can please all of the people all of the time. I'm one of those who prefers to sit and listen (especially in this setting with this artist) and let the music wash over me. I get perturbed when people shout at her or get too raucous in the middle of a song. I prefer to wait until she's finished with a song before I let her know how much I enjoyed it. I know others disagree, but that's just my style. I thought the audience was plenty into her, and it felt like she knew that too. :-) JMO. Hope she comes back soon! I'm looking for folks who will be attending the Patty/Emmylou show at the Fillmore in Denver, CO on August 28. Just got my tix. WOOHOO! This will be my fifth time seeing Patty. Thinking of having a pre-Patty party at my place for all us die-hards. Any interest out there?
