I've been a Patty fan since 1998. Saturday I will see her for the first time, a show that was cancelled once before. Needless to say, I'm on pins and needles! It's good to know there are so many fellow Pattyphiles out there, sharing my love for this wonderful lady. I'll be sure to post a full report of her show at the Granada in Dallas this Saturday! I'm hoping to hear Poor Man's House, but I'll be happy with anything she decides to play. For those of you who don't know BUST, it's an incredible magazine and I couldn't even describe it if I wanted to. But here's the review for those of you who like to read reviews and such. "Patty Griffin writes songs in two categories: sad songs that make you want to cry your guts out, and hopeful ones that leave you inspired. "Love Throws a Line" starts Impossible Dream out on an upbeat track, but then is followed by a drastic change in tempo and mood with the acoustic folk ballad "Cold as it Gets." Patty delivers "Standing" in a gospel style good enough to sing in church and my fave of the collection, "Useless Desires," is a something-needs-to-change-in-my-life country-bluegrass tune. Through it all, Patty plays guitar and piano while singing with one of the most powerful and truthful sounding voices in music. Definitely in the same league with roots greats like Shelby Lynne and Lucinda Williams, Impossible Dream further establishes Patty Griffin as a consumate singer/songwriter and proves that nothing is impossible." Love From My Lips 1 and 2, the first two installments of the ever-growing collection of Patty Griffin rarities, covering her work from the very early years (1992 anyone?) to 1998, is back in circulation...and ready for copying and treeing and weeding and whateverelse-ing. Except costing. None of that. If you already have LFML 1 and 2, you do not necessarily need these new versions (hereby titled LFML 1.1 and 2.1). Nothing new has been added. But if you are copying the discs for anyone else, please use these to do so, as they no longer have the songs on them that irritated Patty's management (and those songs can be found on official releases anyway). Please note the audio quality has not changed either...everything sounds exactly the same as before. I still hope someday to make each track sound even better - but for now, no. I have created new Liner Notes pages - which also allow you to download new print-quality artwork for each disc. They can be found at http://www.siteboy.net/PattyGriffin/linerlfml1.html and http://www.siteboy.net/PattyGriffin/linerlfml2.html. To begin the distribution of these discs. Please contact Gillian at GillianReynolds@hotmail.com. She will be able to get the first batch out and notify this list when her slots are full...then the rest of you guys can all take it from there! Finally, if you have any additional information on the songs included on these discs...or if you want to make suggestions for future LFMLs...please contact me at PattyGriffinFan@aol.com.
