While we're talking about good CDBaby artists, I wanna mention Sarina Simoom, an amazing band from Denver. I could actually see some similarities to Patty in places, although it's a bit more alternative and ethereal, in the vein of maybe Cat Power or Kate Bush. But really good stuff, the CD is beautiful. You can listen to it on the site. http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/sarina And I absolutely second the Deb Talan recommendation!! >http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/debtalan http://www.debtalan.com - -Jess ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 25 May 2004 09:03:27 +0000 From: Danalee7@comcast.net Subject: MM: Patty KFOG concert at Freight & Salvage Anyone who lives in Bay area, if you sign up at KFOG, there is a private concert with Patty Sun afternoon at 12:30 at Freight & Salvage in Berkeley. Contest ends at 9 am Wed- I suppose maybe 100 people may get invitations to this one. or 50 as you usually may bring 1 guest. Alas and alack, it falls right on Strawberry Music Festival weekend where I will be. I did enter, but I won't be able to know if I get chosen as I will be leaving home probably before they notify winners and I won't have computer access out there in the Sequoias. Why this very weekend????? Oh, the pain and agony of making the decision to go to the Berry and miss Patty. If I stay home and await an e-mail telling me I can go- I might wait all weekend for nothing and miss out on Strawberry all-together, so I am being realistic and going to the Berry. It is killing me, let me tell ya. Not only that, but at the fall Strawberry weekend, she will also be here in the Bay area at the Mountain Winery 2 of the 4 nights of the festival. I will be at the festival, she will be 4 hrs away at the Mountain Winery. Unless I go to Yosemite, set up my tent and rush back to Saratoga, see Patty Thurs / Fri eves, stay at a hotel and all, and then rush back to Yosemite Sat am for the last 2 days of the festival where my little tent will be waiting for me. That sounds a little crazed, doesn't it? What to do?????. I want to be in 2 places at once. Anyway- I thought I should make sure any locals around here know enough to enter this contest in time. Maybe you can go- I'll be sleeping on the ground under the stars, having peach cobbler for lunch and listening to bluegrass all weekend. Getting tan I hope. No phone. No dishes. No cooking. No laundry. No driving kids around. No work. No having to do anything at all. Just music. :) I do have an extra Strawberry ticket available if anyone around here would like to go. Cheers, Dana in Antioch- soon to be at Yosemite ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 25 May 2004 07:40:42 -0700 From: "Roy Larsen" Subject: RE: MM: Birchmere 5/11/04 Offer I went way over the quota I set for myself and need to close this offer. I have responded to all those that made the cut. However, most folks said they would re-offer to the list so there should be many opportunities to get this show soon. I'll take the first 5 non-digesters and the first 3 digesters who get back to me off list. The first 3 non-digesters offering to redistribute will have priority as well as the first 2 digesters. Details are below... - ---------- You're invited to a Mountain Music Lounge with Patty Griffin! Join Marty Riemer, The Mountain, Starbucks, and Hear Music for a remote Mountain Music Lounge recording with Patty Griffin on Tuesday, June 1st at Starbucks Coffee on Capitol Hill (located at 1600 E. Olive Way). Patty's visited with us in The Lounge before, but this time, we're moving her to Starbucks so that you can experience her in-person! Space is limited, and first-come/first-served, so arrive early, order your drink of choice, and settle in for this 12 Noon recording! - ---------- This would be a great chance to see her up close and personal, for free! You'll have to get there early, though... Dave ------------------------------ End of mad-mission-digest V8 #134 *********************************
