What zoo show in Seattle? I looked around the web and don't see it listed anywhere on Patty's sites or on http://www.zoo.org/special_events/zoo_tunes/tunes.html. Are you sure about this? I think she played there last summer maybe.... Any insight here? Jess >Well, I purchased my tickets for the Emmylou Harris/Patty >Griffin/Buddy Miller show at the Oregon Zoo in late August! Patty gets to be in one of the two pictures that usually accompany this weekly newspaper feature. The caption is: Patty Griffin explores love tonight and tomorrow at Town Hall. Here's the blurb: Patty Griffin may be best known as the songwriter of the Dixie Chicks' "Let It Fly" and "Truth No. 2." But on her own she is more cathartic, with songs that plunge into love as mysticism, desire and faith. Her songs may twang, but they can also cut deep. Tonight and tomorrow night [sounds like a song title] at 8, with Craig Ross opening; tickets are $25 and $30 (Pareles). ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 8 May 2004 01:01:37 -0400 From: "chris" Subject: MM: 5/7/04 Town Hall NYC Another fantastic Patty show. About the same set list as her most recent dates. Doug and Mr. Ramos are great. The rhythm section needs Dave Jacques. Patty's voice is about as perfect as it can be. Truly one of a kind. Right up there with Emmylou's, Ann Wilson and her gospel peers. It was clear how much she enjoyed performing tonight. She said some kind things about being in NYC. Town Hall is small and allowed for an intimate performance. She also spared a few moments for those who waited by the stage door until almost midnight. She apparently had a boyfriend or family with her and still took some time out for the hard cores waiting for autographs and pictures. And of course she looked fantastic. New hair color and a little shorter. I understand she will play Town Hall again Saturday night. If you are close, try and go. ------------------------------ End of mad-mission-digest V8 #114 *********************************
