Nothing about it will remind you of FR. There is I guess a little Silver Bell sound to it as well, but more of the quieter side of Silver Bell, not like the title track or anything. Not that I want her to intentionally do anything over again, but I'd definitely like to hear another totally solo effort like LWG. Ahh.. the glory! :-) Seemingly all of us would like to hear another rocker like FR. :-) If only we could have like 100 years of Patty music, life would be great, wouldn't it? Impossible Dream represents more her thoughtful folk side than her rock n roll side. It would be fun to hear her do a totally solo album. Patty was great, but I wasn't crazy about the instrumental support on the new one. Don for your travel plans around the end of April and the beginning of May. Never been there yet so that will be cool- Got my Jet Blue tix to JFK - will be on the East coast for 3 weeks- got someone to work for me on one of the weekends, booked my week at Disneyworld - got my Southwest tix from Hartford to Orlando. Called my sister-in-law in Charlotte and invited myself down for 4 or 5 days. :) My 17 yr old Arielle will be coming with me and when I asked her about if she wanted to go- she was like- "Uh- hey if you are gonna steal me away from my life and make me go to DisneyWorld for 7 days and go to 3 or 4 (hopefully )Patty Griffin concerts and go visit the cousins( that I haven't seen in five years) for a few days- I am not gonna be mad! " Getting a teen to go anywhere with parents is a victory you know. We will be taking my 4 yr old grand -daughter Adora everywhere with us- even to the Patty concerts. She will be brainwashed by her 5th birthday. Jayne will have over 2 weeks off from parenting to finish up college and pass those finals and do her last papers etc. So, now I am just waiting to see if Patty schedules any more convenient concerts that weekend- I am available Fri, Sat, Sun- (Berkelee) , Mon and Tues- (Birchmere) for Patty concerts- hear that ??? After that I must use My Very Famous Restraint and decline the invite. :) I am really hoping to lay eyes on a bunch of known names and personalities on this list. Psyched - actually I am soooo anxious trying to fit all these pieces in like a jigsaw puzzle. I was only planning on going out for 10 days or so and now it is 3 whole weeks. I figure if you want something to work out bad enough , there is a way. Cannot just say it is not possible. Cannot be helpless and paralyzed. :) So. There. But look at the track-listing for this one, at the songs which she has played live or are otherwise publicly known: 'Kite' is a delicate piano ballad, 'Standing' is slow and gospelly, 'Top of the World' is a gorgeous stately ballad, 'Mother of God' is again a slow quiet one ... and so is 'Icicles'. And the versions of 'Florida' that she has played live sure aren't rockers. 'Cold as it gets' is only a few bpms faster than this lot. I'm expecting a very low key subtle delicate album :) It's ironic - she's ditched by her idiot record company, and then she starts recording the kind of music they probably wanted her to, slipping into the increasingly easy-to-market area of Emmylou and Gillian and folky Americana. Nothing potentially alienating and loud.
