No... not Pink Floyd... just curious... is it just me or is everyone hibernating... cuz it seems awful quiet out there... are you all just waiting patiently for April 20th and then I'll be flooded with email? Here's a question for all of you. Anyone ever been to the Jazz Festival in New Orleans? Well, my husband and I are going for our 4th year in a row. We can't seem to stay away. It is the closest to a musical overdose I've ever experienced. One day I hope to take my last breath at the Acura Stage listening to Patty Griffin... which brings me to this... When is Patty going to make this gig? This would be a great venue for her especially right now with the new cd coming out. On Friday, April 23rd, Among 50 or so acts, Bonnie Raitt is scheduled as a headliner, as well as Emmylou Harris, who in my experience has been traveling with Buddy Miller who also, along with his wife Julie, has been pretty buddy-buddy with Patty. Humph... think maybe that could happen? Anyway, I am going the first week of the festival and I'll be hoping that Patty would show up or have a gig at some club in the area and if anyone of you sleeping bears out there have any info... let us all know! And, if you're interested in the Jazzfest just check out http://www.nojazzfest.com/schedule/index04.html ... it's an absolute blast! Oh, Also, looks official, Patty is at Stubbs @ 10pm in Austin on March 20th as part of the SXSW festival. Helllooooooo... Sign-up is at 7:30 pm. Open mike starts at 8pm and goes till 11pm or thereafter. Drink specials at the bar. (Happy Hour goes till 9pm or so). Sign up and play two songs. This is a very mellow scene. Eclectic, laid-back, etc. Ya never know which celebrity you might find stumbling around in the back room. Come play pool, sing a song, shoot the shit, or just hang. See ya there http:///www.mickysblueroom.com for directions It's at 171 Avenue C between 10th and 11th just a half block up from CNOTE where there is a not-as-cool open mike that starts earlier and we get some of the spillover but we only want the COOL spillover hee hee nah we embrace and welcome everyone :))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))) http://www.cdbaby.com/emerman http://amyemerman.50free.net/appearances.htm# _________________________________________________________________ Say good-bye to spam, viruses and pop-ups with MSN Premium -- free trial offer! http://click.atdmt.com/AVE/go/onm00200359ave/direct/01/ ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 23 Feb 2004 00:20:48 +0000 From: Danalee7@comcast.net Subject: MM: hibernating? "just curious... is it just me or is everyone hibernating... cuz it seems awful quiet out there... are you all just waiting patiently for April 20th and then I'll be flooded with email? " Hi Sharon- as for me, well, I went out house hunting a few weeks ago and am now waiting for the closing mid March and am packing like mad- as well as working a lot so I have been off the computer more in an effort to get something done. Thus the halt in my weeding and gardening efforts over here. I am sure a few more weeds will crop up in April if you guys are still into it. You could do weeding also you know. It is a little sad to see this list be so quiet- it was doing pretty good last fall. Perhaps the new Cd will liven things up a bit! I am waiting also to hear of any rumors about a spring tour ?? I hope she hits the West coast! I will need a new Patty fix after moving which will happen during that SXSW festival so I won't be there. I wish she would be at Kate Wolf Fest this year but so far it does not seem like it. The lineup is ex. tho- Joan Baez- as well as lots of my other faves. I also am going to Strawberry again altho I am not familiar with most of the acts- I just love that festival- I don't care who is playing altho Patty playing there again would be just perfect. cheers, Dana in Berkeley still- soon to be in Antioch- hoping the new Cd is a smash! ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 23 Feb 2004 01:19:58 -0500 From: "Don Henn" Subject: MM: Re: hibernating? MMers , Just to let y'all know that some of us are still here , I'd like to thank Patty & my other fav artists for keeping me company during this ordeal that is euphemistically called "moving". 3 months looking for a house , 1 month negotiating & making the final decision , 1 month packing , cleaning & moving , & 1 month organizing. Still weeks or months away from being settled. Really enjoying my new fireplace , tho. Best night in my new house so far , was the one when I was listening to Patty & others , into the wee hours , with my back to the cold & my face to the radiant heat emanating from the fire. Indeed , waiting patiently for Patty's springtime tour to wrench me from the stress of moving & the doldrums of winter. Passed on the SXSW show , due to the 1500 mile trip , less than an hour of Patty , the possibility of having a hard time getting in , & fact that my daughter invited me to a party on the same day. Hard to pass up Patty's 1st show in ages , but decisions must be made. Don't know if I'll travel too far afield , but nothing will keep me from the right coast dates.Good luck to Dana in HER new house. Then according to the man Who showed his outstretched arm to space, He turned around and pointed Revealing all the human race. I shook my head and smiled a whisper Knowing all about the place.
