I thought she looked fabulous and sounded equally amazing. They all did, but Patty was headlining this spot. Honestly, everytime I see her it sounds better than the time before. The only troubling thing is that I'm not sure that everyone knew which lady was which! Since Ellen didn't talk to them (bummer), and when she announced them it wasn't in the order they were sitting in, if people weren't familiar with any of them they probably didn't know it was Patty singing lead. Oh well, I can only hope that Patty will continue to get exposure and recognition like this which she so deserves. It's about time. Well, the French lullaby song (J'irai la voir un jour) came on and my friend let out this gasp, turned it up and told me how her grandmother and mother used to sing that song to her. She was SO excited to hear it. Theyre French Canadian (as is a lot of Maine) so I wasnt surprised, it was just a really neat reaction she had to hearing it. We got back to work, she copied the CD and is sitting in her office with that song on repeat. "Conversation With A Ghost" is written by Ellis Paul. there's actually 2 versions of the song w/ Patty. one is located on the 2nd disc of Ellis' "Live" album and the other is located on his first label cd "Say Something". both are impeccable and both showcase Patty well. ~tim - ----- Original Message ----- From: "Joey Eckstrom" To: Sent: Sunday, November 16, 2003 12:29 PM Subject: Re: MM: MM > i think it is willie nelson. > > >From: "Ira Post" >Reply-To: "Ira Post" >To: "mad mission (mad mission)" > >Subject: MM: MM >Date: Sun, 16 Nov 2003 10:00:10 -0500 > >I just heard a > duet called 'Conversations With A Ghost' sung by Patty Griffin >and a > male vocalist. Steven S. Jerry? Jim? Only $15/ticket- 8PM show- it is 5:15 now. I saw Jackie at Strawberry and loved him never having heard any of his music before- he is like a cross between a young Jackson Browne with his shiny black hair and Bob Dylan with his sunglasses and harmonica but he is a prodigy on guitar- plays blues, writes Singersongwriter stuff- just amazing for being so young too. Plays beautiful piano- kind of shy. If anyone contacts me before I leave home at 6:40 PM I can leave the ticket for you at the desk and hopefully we can meet up somehow. I encourage anyone to forget the bad news on that rotten TV tonite and come out to see this kid play and sing- you won't be sorry. You can always get me on AOL IM- DanainBerkeley Dana in Berkeley ------------------------------ End of mad-mission-digest V7 #301 *********************************
