I was sporting rabbit ears in honor of the holiday. returning home , we were passed on the turnpike two drag queens in a lexus SUV who didnt seen to appreciate my ears.. Today, I worked on my tan.and graded papers. and we got ready to go to WBP. Susan, her husband Chico, and 3 friends and i headed out to be struck by the Beauty of the Rain?? as we arrived in WBP right at curtain time. We got our seats and the show began... Chapin I still miss someone This Shirt complete with ebay discussion and shawn's snot my heaven girls like me ( with dar on harmony-its a keeper) the one who knows ( just checking) Late for your life Shawn Tell me why Whole new you trouble dead of the night.. taking us down downdown the slippery slope of dark songs ill say im sorry now DAR the mady has new clothes- colvin took dar shopping- a new skirt and shirt in black Tres new york, a killer coat with lorax sleeves..Please dar wear that coat again and great great brown boots...Dar HAD A REMAKE..or a Makeover..and a darn good one.. Dishing in the morning Mercy of the Fallen ( shawn's butt is the fallen) February.. the saddest of the dar williams songs the one who knows We learned the sea aka Ode to Lazy.. she didnt want to change tunings Patty Rain with harmony- broke my heart Chief ??? a psycho version of Flaming REd goodbye Well this was show 5 of this series.. there is more and more fun going on.. and more interaction, harmony and just plain enjoyment.. THese women mutually respect each other, like each others music and seem to care about one another.. Each show gets better and better.. The banter was close to what has been posted except for a story about Mary Chapin's guitar being mauled in the airport..it lived..she was told to take the bus..she hasnt been banned from the airport by the security staff from Hell.. dar thought they should be giving mammograms.. thanks to my hostess and listmember from the Southern most part of florida...the sexiest part.. and thanks to the women on the verge for a great show.. we got home, got in the jacuzzi for a spell...and off to sarasota tomorrow..where we will be shopping for clothing jewels and sleeping in a good hotel it has be known..My hostess was responsible for over 65 tickets being sold tonight and dar thanked ms moss for that great effort...Yo go girl... It promises to be a wonderfully eclectic half-hour. Second, it's that time of the year again: you can vote for your 10 favorite folk artists in the WUMB poll. You have until next Tuesday, 11/11, to cast your vote. Heck, you can even win prizes. Anyhow, for info on the poll and the Live at Noon, check out www.wumb.org . Finally, the incomparable Greg Greenway has finally released a live CD. And while nothing, not even a live CD, can capture the energy of a Greg show, this disc comes close than anything else. (I am always driving and sometime too angry to drive home and one who leaves this also grieves this..and i still can go there anytime ..on spring street) and patty sings a Bessie Smith tune..Back to Chapin and she sings Girls like me and i lose my heart down the aisle.because dar adds vocals and patty adds harmony..i hope this is the final version of that song and it was recorded in DC as this for the next MCC cd.and Shawn breaks out Steady On...Dar cant decide cant decide cant decide and takes When i was a boy as a request.. Patty sings mad mission..meanwhile, there is talk of bad songs they wrote and shawn and patty square off with their worst songs, MCC gets goated into julie andrews sings Oklahoma .. Chapin's up and she sing a new stunner called Goodnight America -(this new cd will be the best ever -see next weeks post when we have no tour to talk about) Shawn is up and she sings Sunny came home..dar goes to We learned teh sea with stunning MCC harmonies..patty sings perfect white girls- Final round of blues.. Chapin slays us with Late for your life, Shawn Matter of minutes..Dar starts the babysitter and Chapin is mouthing the words and making dar facial expressions.. My road buddy Susan Moss thinks MCC should cover the Babysitter's here.. i enjoy watching her take joy in that song.. patty breaks out the M&M and dar starts chewing and sharing and passing em down..to shawn..Patty ends with 10 million Miles... OH yeah.. Shawn tells this story of the library and a woman playing Downtown by Petula Clark too loud and MCC began to sing it and play it.. The woman is human jukebox..so shawn et al kick in and the audience joins in the whole purple place is singing downtown... Shawn talks of fashion again..Dar teased the audience with a surprise and the encores are I want it that way and Mary.. I want it that way has become our default songs..we cant get it out of our head.. we tried with Maggie and Suzzy and Terre Roche, with Jules Shear with Suzzy singing of the road, with MCC's Come one come on and with Joni Mitchell.. could these singer songwriters get the Back Streets out of my head...no they are stuck there forever.. singing I want it that way.. I have the "tell me why.. over and over and over..." well we stayed in good hotel and today we went shopping for jewels. what else does two women do when their fav singer songwriter leave town..we shopped.. Ashley at chico's insisted I was not a 3.. I am a too and begged me to buy clothes in My own size ..she and i bonded over my new wardrobe..as i left with a shopping bag of clothes...she said NOW sharon when you go back to NY..remember you are a 2 not a three..please be a two..my road buddy and i went to chase sunsets over the gulf with a friend nicole and we ate fresh seafood.. we saw the most expansive evening sky over alligator alley and the stars were shining bright in the night sky...you can see for miles and miles like the midwest and there were not lights except the moon.. so we called it.. Susan cried to Sheltering Sky on the way home and i lent her My IOWA teeshirt to blow her nose on..now it has NON grammy winning but outstanding MOM snot on it..maybe ill sell it to Nike to help the manatees..one bump and the die..please dont bump manatees... Me i am hanging up my maps, and soon enough will be back in my own new york..wearing black again and getting back to my life of work( yes i have a job...) and will be back to my class and Lyle Lovett on thursday night at carnegie hall.. what is amazing about being in florida is there is NO cellphone hands free law, and i dont have to wear shoes.except in stores and restaurants... Thanks to my patient road buddy who tolerated my off key, off tune singing and my constant need to stop...thank to susan moss who is the one who really knows..thanks to the 4 women of hell who left me full of music..im not really that hungry anymore and for those on the west coast..it will be worth the wait...youll see..trust me on this one.. sharonG ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 04 Nov 2003 22:40:44 +0000 From: Danalee7@comcast.net Subject: MM: CA singersongwriter shows Is there any interest in meeting up before the San Luis Obispo , Santa Rosa or San Francisco shows?
