Everyone except Buddy Miller and Patty Griffin were dressed in Black.. EmmyLou proved why she is an ICON and delivered a controlled performance with her usual spyboy instrumentals. It was a night of sad songs, of covers, of songs recovered and song for old friends. She used the harmonies of PG, JM with her percussion instruments and the MCgarrigles well.. She had them join her on many of hte song, including ones the sister wrote.. She didnt cover PG or JM as part of her set.. Julie on orphan girl was a stand out.. They did both Patty songs live, and they both rocked. I think the Chicks arrangement is(on TOTW), on the whole, better than Pattys but of course Pattys voice is better. However TOTW was absolutely amazing that night, so I'll just have to go see Patty again because it was very very close to being as good as her. Also, the Chicks agreed to cover those two songs during their last tour when Silver Bell was still supposed to be released. they performed Truth #2 as early as 2000. Actually, there was not all that much interest shown, other than several people who have volunteered to help. It may happen. Meanwhile, how about passing this one around? Keswick Theater, Harrisburg Pa just 2 weeks ago with Catie Curtis guest as Dar had another gig that night. I'll send out 10 to people who can reoffer it - five real timers and save 5 for digesters. That means after 10 people ask, I have to say no but within a week, they will be reoffering it and if they each offer to only 5 more people- 50 more of you will have it next week. If they then pass it on to some more burners, still more of you will be able to get it. If you can do this, e-mail me at danalee7@comcast.net Try it. It is easy. If a lot of you are preferring a tree thing, then a bunch of you can e-mail Megan: satrn_grl@yahoo.com I can then send her the 10 names I am sending to and she can set up the leaves from there. I went to a dixie chicks show with my parents and some friends last summer and during a very quiet moment of them singing Top of the World, my dad says, "hey, isn't this a Patty Griffin song". Right on Dad!! Sarah Jessica Byers wrote: Well I just have to share a rather disturbing experience I had in August. I was at the Rocky Mountain Folks Fest with some friends and family and towards the end of Patty's set, my aunt turned to me and asked, "Why is she doing all these Dixie Chicks songs?" I immediately set her straight on that and I think she felt a little silly (since I was was so obviously offended by the question). But that will happen.... Just for the record though, I love the Dixie Chicks and think its great that they did the songs. Its not their fault some people don't pay attention. - -Jess PS Is there anyone from Montana on this list? Have I asked that here before?
