Morning , After sending out 2 weeds, ( and you all did great, thank you) and finding that altho they got out there to you, some people were having trouble finding someone to do it for them, asking over and over again to be told they were too late, especially digesters, I have been thinking about why don't we set up a permanent tree structure to continue to share Patty concerts? We could do this once or twice a month with the same people being branches and sending to the same people as leaves. That would eliminate all the e-mails and flurry of activity every time on the list as well as a lot of time sorting out names etc. Depending on how many of you are interested, branches could be responsible for sending out to the same 5-7 leaves. If I send out to the 5 same major branches, and they each send out to 5 more same branches- each of who send out to 5 more same leaves- 155 people could have the shared concert in 3 steps. We could jump it up to 2-400 if that many people are interested by having branches send out to 6 or 7 leaves. It would take maybe 2 weeks at most if they all do it promptly. Since we would be doing it for even trades or B&P, no one would take on expenses, just time and effort would be needed from the branches. We would need branches who have that time and interest in faithfully sharing this stuff to people below them on the tree. Obviously, if a branch already has whatever is being offered, they would still need to send it to those below them, even if they don't need to obtain it again themselves. A little labor of love here. Anyone could offer something they would like to share, not just me. Other related artists could even be offered. B& P means: leaves and lower branches would need to send the required # of usually 80 min discs in a self addressed envelope with correct return postage on it so that your branch person is not going through a pile of their own supplies to do you this favor. An extra disc or two in case of disc failure is always helpful- it would be returned or maybe something else put on it if not needed for the offered set. Always, money is never ever a part of this, a matter of honor that these concerts are never sold or find their way to EBAY etc. I would also like to think that anyone who participates in this would have already supported Patty and her record company by buying their very own copies of her 3 cds as well as her newly released live concert CD/DVD set which is absolutely awesome and frankly better quality than anything we could share here. Megan has thankfully offered to help set up this tree as she has done it before and I can then continue to rearrange things as people drop out or sign up as we go along. Don has graciously offered to supply me with Cds and mailers to send out the first sets to the major branches so that we don't have a lot of delay getting it off the ground while I wait for B& P from them. It would be awesome if someone here would know how and be willing to set up an artwork site that people could access to print off their own artwork. The Jackson Browne list has a member that does it- not on the official JB site, but on his own site for many, maybe several hundred concerts from over the years. Things are listed alphabetically- it is a great resource also for set lists and dates- the artwork is usually very beautiful and does give the concerts a personality of their own as opposed to blank discs with no set lists included which is how these things usually get sent out. Some artwork for some PG concerts is already done and available on a few people's sites, but I don't think it is well known how to find them, and many of mine just don't have any at all as far as I know. If you have already designed artwork, it would be a way to share it with others if there was 1 person to send it to who could put it up. If interested in participating, please send your responses with : CD tree branch or CD tree leaf in subject line to Megan at : satrngrl Any comments on how we should do this or change this initial idea are always welcome. We wanna know what you think. There may be a better way than a traditional tree set-up. I would say to hold any e-mails to Megan untill we talk a little more- no sense in bombing her mailbox yet. :) Dana - ----------------------------------------------- Hi Jon- those are 2 great ideas- I am nobody with no contacts at all in Patty's management- and know nothing at all about downloading music, never did it. So, if there is someone else out there that would do that, great. As for the 5 person web page thing- do you want to set it up? I just joined 2 trading sites, where weeds and vines are offered. It is not a signup thing like you are suggesting. I am only familiar with trees, weeds and vines as such from my beloved Jackson Browne list. Talk some more- even on list before we do anything. That would be fine. There may be a better way to get Patty's live music out there among the fans on our list. I know that a lot of people don't have much if anything because they have written to me desperately seeking stuff with the past 2 weeds I offered, so there should be a bunch of people interested in whatever. Your idea would be less work for me certainly and that is always good! Anyone would feel free to make an offer and people would not feel shut out of the project- and could just sign up for things they are interested in. Why don't you immediately post your ideas and we can discuss it onlist- I will jump in and open it as well after you do. We do not have to do it the first way that I thought of- at all. Before a lot of e-mails go to Megan would be good. Dana ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 22 Oct 2003 14:09:47 -0500 From: "Willms, Gregory J."
