OMIGODDESSES - tonight's show was absolutely fabulous!!!! I'm not going to get into the deep philosophical details of the show tonight, it's too late and i'm tired... but I'm way too excited about this show to not write *something* so.... JACKSON BROWNE was there!!!! He got onstage and sang two songs and a little while later Dar called her dad to wish him a Happy Birthday and the girls sang to him! Amazing... see Patty & Dar's setlist to follow (sorry Shawn Colvin and Mary CC fans -- I don't know their material as much to write it all down... eep!). OH - if anyone recorded the show PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE let me know and hopefully we can work out some sort of a trade! I was all set to record it, brought my MD recorder... yeah, turns out the rechargable battery won't charge anymore. Dead. Couldn't find a store that carried that battery while on the road to save my life. UGH. I'm a little slow when it comes to planning ahead like that. :( So... I have all kinds of stuff to trade and would even come and clean your house to get a copy of that show... I hope someone was smarter than me and actually taped it! Okay... so here's the setlist(s): Patty: Tomorrow Night, Making Pies, Flaming Red (amazing, as always!), Not Alone, Icicles Falling Dar: Babysitter's Here, Fishing in the Morning, Mercy of the Fallen, If I Wrote You, We Learned the Sea Encores: I Want It That Way (B-street Boys) -- all four women Mary (Patty) -- other three joined in glorious harmonies! Sigh... SUCH a great show Sarah ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ You're gonna dance to jah music, dance, We're gonna dance to jah music, dance, Forget your troubles and dance, Forget your sorrows and dance, Forget your sickness and dance, Forget your weakness and dance. . ." -- Bob Marley ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 18 Oct 2003 10:42:26 -0400 From: "chris" Subject: MM: Weed & Seed If any MM members missed out on the Strawberry Festival and would like a copy especially digest members like myself, feel free to contact me directly with postage and a blank disc. While browsing at the merch booth, someone over my shoulder asks me, 'Which songs are on Patty's new one?'. I turn and see JACKSON BROWNE looking me in the eye! Talk about heartstopping. Well, anyway, after chatting it up a bit (which mainly consisted of him saying 'Man, I loved her last one.' and me saying 'Yeah....stammer...uh....stutter.....'), he moved on and I took my seat. What an amazing show. My first time seeing Dar and Mary Chapin Carpenter, who were amazing, loved Shawn Colvin, and of course Patty rocked. She did a kick-ass acoustic Flaming Red that 'lit the curtains on fire'. The 'Mail Order Brides From Hell' conjured Jackson onto the stage, and he did a couple songs while the ladies pretended to swoon over him (at one point, Shawn was sighing and fighting with Patty over his scarf). I didn't get the set list, sorry, but Mary Chapin Carpenter did play one she said was brand new, a song about a worker for the 9/11 disaster site. It was, of course, amazing. Well I'm beat. After a four hour drive home, I walk in the house to find my dog has ironically eaten a book called 'Good Dog, Bad Dog: How To Train Your Man's Best Friend'. Fun! :) Emily The New Yahoo! A gigantic white tent in the middle of the park. Surrounded by vendors, and loud people. A beautiful performance. The hour and a half early arrival was not enough. Bad seats (are they considered seats if you only stood?). Could see them up close on a large screen, and could hear them well (the second 1/2 of the concert). Patty's set list: Long Ride Home Tomorrow Night Truth #2 Ice Storm Song (?) they did an encore of:' the backstreet boys song (which i personally dislike!) and, Mary. it was nice to see them all together. a great lineup. perfect match. but i must add, Shawn Colvin seemed a bit 'off'. Her voice was lovely, but her behavior was strange. Moody, almost bored. Perhaps, she was just too cold. Tomorrow (Sunday) afternoon I leave for Columbus to see the women at the Palace Theater. >smile< a weekend of patty. perfect.... matt ------------------------------ End of mad-mission-digest V7 #263 *********************************
