Hi all, I know that 'A Kiss in Time" has just been released, but I was wondering if anyone out there has REAL copy of her performance at the Ryman in Nashville. Some of my favorite songs (Top of the World, Mil Besos) didn't make the cut for the album. If you could help, please write back. Thanks! _A_ ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 14 Oct 2003 09:51:16 -0400 From: "Rebecca Simonelli" Subject: MM: Strawberry Weed-less Hi all, Despite being told 3 weeks ago my copy of this weed "was on it's way" I still haven't gotten my disc yet. And my provider is not answering my emails so I don't know what to think. Is there a kind soul out there who could burn just one more copy for little old me? I can burn copies and pass it on if there are any others out there who are still waiting... Thanks! The entire night was breathtaking, seeing her for the first time, just a few feet from me. All four women were amazing - I just happen to have an endearing love for Patty... The evening started out great - MMs in hand - as we (thanks for the push Kara Hetz, and it was so AWESOME to meet you as well) dashed to the stage before Patty could think of which song to start with - and couldn't help but show off her great fans to the rest of the songwriters. From there she just expanded her talents and filled the room with utter ballads of joy - I was definitely touched Mad Mission Be Careful Rain Stolen Car Tony Mary (encore) I thought that the idea of this circle of ballads was beautiful. I think the comical banter between songs is what kept the audience involved and curious - and it was great to hear each songwriter discuss the development of their songs . It was a lovely evening - I can still hear them strumming and echoes in my head... I have this idea of giving each of the four ladies (I am a fan of all four--this show could kill me from anticipation) flowers and this should be easy enough since I'm in the fifth row. Do you think the women will find being presented with flowers (with notes and M and M's for Patty inside) from a 21 year old guy cute or kind of odd? Also, suggestions on when to do it, anyone? I have this horrible fear that if I do it at the end while they're bowing I'm going to get up too late, as they've all turned so they won't see me and I'll be at the foot of the stage alone and the hundreds of audience members will laugh at me. I also don't want to interrupt the show's proceedings directly by doing it randomly in between songs...someone give me their thoughts!! Zach __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? She scooped it up and trotted off so cute with it in hand. I felt like she appreciated it. Dar looked at me also and as I love all 4 of the girls, and have seen each of them a number of times, I did feel a little bad that I had nothing for the others. I think that is an awesome idea, especially with a few M&M's included for Patty. It is also a chance to write her and them also a little note- a chance you might otherwise never have. She will get it and most likely read it backstage but who knows if she ever sees her own fan mail. Kara and Maggie, you did good! Dana in Berkeley- listening to a Patty marathon last eve and today as I have been doing a new Cd trade list at www. phishhook.com- dwjma Have to get the new CD/DVD today too! When we picked up our tickets at the window there was a little suprise from management - 2 backstage passes! We had 10th row seats in the middle section so it was pretty perfect. The girls all looked like they were having a wonderful time up there. Patty's "Freebird" was a riot. I think it's been mentioned but Patty was in rare form. Nearly every song she performed was as a reaction to a request. As we all know, Patty hardly ever honors requests. Jamie from the Bachlorette was there. This is the second time I saw him at a show (he was also at Blue Rodeo & Sarah Slean). He was sitting directly behind us and said he was there for Patty alone. Steve Dahl (Chicago radio legend & husband of a big Dar fan) was sitting right in front of us so we felt very VIP :-) After the show Mary Beth, the tour manager, came to get me and Adam to go backstage. It was so awesome to be backstage in the Chicago theatre. The walls were lined with autographs of people that had played there. We noticed that Roy Orbison and Frank Sinatra signed right next to each other. We got backstage but had to wait for the girls to come out and in the mean time I really needed to use the restroom. Mary Beth took me into Dar's dressing room and let me use hers. When I came out Patty was standing with Adam and I was more than embarrased that I chose such an inoppurtune time to use the bathroom. We chatted for a while with Patty and Dar and then said our goodbyes. We walked out the door by the busses where fans were waiting for the girls to come out so I ended up meeting a couple of Patty fans who said that they visit the site alot but haven't posted on the board yet so hopefully they will start :-) Can't wait for New York! - Jen *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ AIM: traDMB http://www-personal.engin.umich.edu/~jcaputo/ Is it overwhelming To use a crane to crush a fly? Kara, so were you at the concert last night in chicago? I heard Patty talking about the bag of M&Ms. Was that you that brought them? I think that it was Dar that asked why people were throwing M&Ms on the stage. Patty replied, "Its a subtle way to request a song." Then she proceeded to play Mad Mission. I thought that was weird she said that because i also thought the M&Ms represented her fan club. Anyways the show was incredible. Patty played Tony with just the acoustic guitar, which i had never heard before and she said she almost never plays it. It was incredible. Everyone else was good too, but Patty definately outshined the rest of them. After the show i got the opportunity to get backstage for a meet and greet and get my guitar signed by Patty. I still can't believe i got to meet her! Deb ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 14 Oct 2003 18:29:36 +0000 From: Danalee7@comcast.net Subject: MM: re: MM. Well, I have heard on a boot somewhere- I forget which concert- when she mentions the M&Ms and says it has to do with her internet Mad Mission list- I am pretty sure she flashed us a grin at Central Park the day after Ledyard and played Mad Mission. I had gone up a couple of times to take photos and I think she recognized me with my 4 yr old grand-daughter, Adora, trailing me, so she knew where we were sitting, up front to the right. Mad Mission gang , me and Don. You guys are so lucky to get backstage! How did you do that? I understand of course why Jen would be invited- she does a lot for Patty. Patty should know who she is. I guess you'll never part with that guitar now! Although by the time you put the M&Ms on the stage and everyone is looking at you and seem to be saying "What the heck are you doing?" you will feel kind of stupid. But in the end when Patty picks up that bag of M&Ms, you'll know it was all worth it. If she doesn't take them toss the up further while she's looking, but don't jump up on stage and give them to her 'couse no afence but it's only cute when a little kid gets on stage :) - Erin ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 15 Oct 2003 03:02:25 +0000 From: Danalee7@comcast.net Subject: MM: Dvd/ street team Guess I know what you are all watching tonight! Not the bad news either. I picked mine up at Amoeba on Telegraph in Berkeley- $13.99- I went shopping today anyway- checked Target- no Kiss in Time, Circuit City, no- Best Buy I think did, $14.99. So when I got home just now, my ATO Street Team package was waiting with 13 gorgeous posters of the cd release and a bunch of handouts. I wish I had already had them today. I would have been out there putting them up today, but tomorrow will do I guess. I can deal with Berkeley during the day, work eves and Thurs maybe I will have to take a drive over to Amoeba on Haight in San Francisco and make sure they have one up also. I volunteered because I am always seeing other artists' posters everywhere but never Patty's and am always thinking I wish they were out there. So, it is a little something I can do, penance for throwing out all these weed seeds. :) Cover Berkeley with Patty Griffin posters!
