I will save 5 of the copies for Digesters who e-mail me with this digest included to give them a fair chance- all must include their mailing address so I can do this by tomorrow morning as I am off to the Strictly Bluegrass Festival in Golden Gate Park for the next 3 days!!!!! I would also like to stipulate that I want to send this to people who can and will promptly burn and reoffer this one to the list and who have not yet been able to snag Strawberry- then, you can trade back when you do your own reweed. Get it? Trade. It will get out there. It will go slower than Strawberry did as I sent out almost 30 of them- not doing that again- I have other stuff I need to do. It will still get shared around, just be patient. The whole point of weeds is you send out a few and it grows. If the first bunch of you offer it mostly to people who will also reoffer it, and people who cannot do so wait, get the burners going on it first- that will help. It is not as organized as a CD tree, which is a huge project and headache- is much easier and only requires you guys to carry through and keep it up. I will include the Vin Scelsa show from "98 - Flaming Red days- songs and interview- to make it a 2 Cd effort. Lots of other lists do this and you guys did great for last week's Strawberry weed effort. I hope that one is still going around and will be offered some more. One more thing- As Patty is releasing a live concert this very month- Oct 14 I think release? as penance for this free stuff, you all must run out and get her new live concert DVD set- I cannot wait for that one either! Get it from Jen's Patty site and help her support the site- Even better, as double penance, for both Strawberry and ACL concerts- if you can afford to do so, I know everyone may not be able to- get an extra one and introduce someone new to Patty's music- I love to snag a friend for Patty and turn them on to her wonderful music and lyrics. At least trap them and make them watch yours. I will acknowledge your request if you are one of the 20. You can do it for B&P or even trades as usual, no money exchange please. Never ever EBAY it. This is an effort by fans for fans to share Patty's music freely with each other. I hope that some people who do not have much live Patty are able to get these too. I'll post the set list later, misplaced it . Got to run. My sister and I were dead center-third row from the stage. It was so incredible to be that close to Patty and to Dar especially. I thought Patty was flawless...just SO attentive when the others sang...swaying in her chair looking absolutely beautiful. Her voice just flabbergasted me as usual...there's really no comparison and I love the other singers. I guess all 4 went shopping in Northampton today-according to their banter. Shawn mentioned that Patty wanted to go into a yarn store...I guess she knits. I thought that was so cute. People really responded to "Making Pies" ...she also did "Top of the World"...."Christina"...."Icicles Falling" and ended with "Mary"...just gorgeous especially with Dar's voice. I think those two sound fabulous together. I think I'm forgetting a song or two..oh yeah..they did the Back Street Boys song....it was funny. Ok, back to earth...I'm sick and almost didn't even go..thank God I did...time for bed. Not only did my husband and I have front row and just a snip to the right center seats (on the isle) but my 2 Patty-Groupie daughters, Erin -11, and Haley-almost 10, were 4 rows back directly behind us. Then 3 rows back a hair to the right were my 2 sisters, sister-in-law, and 2 more good friends. Surrounded by family and friends and all in love with the 4 talented, outrageous and beautiful women on stage. It all went along pretty much described already by previous reviews on this list but let me tell you, describing it is near impossible. You have to be there! The chit-chat that went on between the girls in between songs was hilarious. I'm devoted to Patty and I'm a Dar fan as well. And Shawn, I've loved her forever - I knew they would be ripping my heart out with their music but, the comedy was a surprise! Also surprising was Patty's set list, I believe they do "pull" (as Mary called it) these songs out from depths in that moment. It was very spontaneous last night. Patty in my biased opinion was the Golden Girl and the audience definitely agreed. Dar. I love Dar. She was my second favorite and if you haven't listened to her new CD - The Beauty of the Rain, then you should go right out... anyhow, they were all fantastic! Patty performed the following: Goodbye Useless Desires (new for next CD) very cool Sweet Loraine Icicles Falling (new for next CD) Truth #2 Mary (encore-fabulous!) Well, by the looks of this email list I'm figuring that I may be the representative from the Capital Region of New York and well... I suppose it was our duty to bring along a big bag a M&M's (I think it was Dana who started this?) with a big Flamin' Red Bow on top and placed it on the stage. And of course, by the end of the night (they played and gabbed for nearly 3 hours!) the bag was still sitting there and by this time my 2 daughters had stolen our 2 front row seats, sending us back a few rows, and the 4 girls get up and walk arm-in-arm to the edge of the stage for a bow and I couldn't believe my eyes as my daughter, Erin, jumps up on stage with the bag of M&Ms and hands them to Patty! Patty looked pretty shocked, I hope we didn't freak her out or anything... meanwhile they came out for the encore and bowed again. This time my daughter had a security guy practically sitting in her lap. I'm hoping we didn't go too far trying to represent this list. If we did, it was only out of shear excitement and my daughter's love for Patty, as well. " Sharon- this is the coolest story- go girl! I have a grin from ear to ear with this one- actually we did this back a few years ago and it was other listers that began it, but I have done it twice now. The other time was at Slims in SF on my birthday- great birthday party too at a great Patty headliner concert- during her tour with the Chicks - I put them out on the stage before the concert and she came out, noticed them and was smiling to herself. She knows it means us- her list is there supporting her. And, I just have to tell this part- here is the rest of that story- Don asked someone in her band if she would talk to someone who was having their birthday, and I got to go downstairs and chat for a few minutes with her! She even gave me her gorgeous bouquet of flowers, said they would die on the hot bus. I kept them for 2 weeks. Patty Griffin gave me her flowers on my birthday! OK, here is the rest of that Slims story- that is the day I met Don Henn, he drove all the way from Pittsburgh, PA out to see 1 Patty concert and drove home again- met me at my house and drove in with us. He was pretty cool. He is now one of my concert buddies, been to 5 Patty concerts thus far with him.
