I wouldn't feel bad at all!! You got awesome seats and why shouldn't you. You do what you have to do. Have an awesome time. I am missing it and pretty bummed. The show I would have gone to is this Friday night. Oh well. She'll tour again once this new cd is out. > I don't know whether Patty loses, but she's gonna be okay lol. They performed in order, each taking her turn in sequence. There were five rounds of songs, plus two songs in the encore. House was pretty much full, at least that was the view from the main floor. Mary accompanied all of the others, and generally sang harmony on each song. Mary, Dar and Shawn harmonized with each other, and the three harmonized in various combinations on Patty's songs. I did not notice Patty harmonizing or singing along on the others' songs, except in the first song of the encore. Dar and Shawn were awesome. As good as Mary, Dar and then Shawn were, Patty would equal and/or surpass them, in my biased opinion. It was gracious of Mary to organize and then share the stage with the three younger (and, I believe, more talented) artists. After Truth No. 2, Mary said to Patty, where would the Dixie Chicks be without your songs? To which Patty replied, where would I be without the Dixie Chicks! I believe in my one listen to Icicles Falling, that the new ballad, to be released on the new album some time next year, could end up being a standard. Time will tell, so to speak. OK, Patty's set was (The) Long Ride (Home), Be Careful, Top of the World, Truth No. 2 and Icicles Falling, followed by the encore which was one song plus "Mary" with the four singers (Patty in the lead). Standing O's for the performers. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 30 Sep 2003 06:24:20 -0700 From: "Pipkin, Heather D." Also met Skip , who got a ticket the day before , & got the 2nd row in the "Grand Circle". Got my tix as soon as they were available & ended up in row D , about 50 feet behind him. Apparently the "Grand Circle" was held for insiders or VIP's , & he was lucky enough to pick up a leftover seat. Was thinking about attending more shows , but that was enough to decide against it. If it was Patty headlining , I could tolerate the pricey 2nd rate seats. Was surprised at the # of empty seats in front of me , which is what happens when you save the best seats for the largely disinterested elitist lot. The 1st 12 rows were reserved for sponsors at a charity show in Lebanon , NH , & they started leaving well before Patty got to her encore. Must be a thrilling sight for a performer. Anyway , it was a great show. Great set by Patty as usual , & a stellar set from Shawn , the best non-Patty set of the 4 show tour so far. I would say that overall , it was marginally the best show of the 4. Marginally b/c they've all been very good.Set list: The Long Ride Be Careful Top of the World Truth # 2 Icicles Falling Encore Mary Don't have Doug to blame here. Vocals on "Long Ride" were excellent , but Patty's guitar was too loud for me , & seemed to intrude on occasion. Harmonies from Patty's back-ups are getting better , & stood out on LR , TOTW , Truth # 2 & Mary. "Top of the World" & "Icicles Falling" were the highlights for me, as Patty knocked out the soulful vocals , & TOTW was also lifted by the excellent harmonies. Patty's vocals on "Mary" didn't seem to reach her earlier versions on the tour , but it too , was lifted by the excellent harmonies. The stage banter was again a large part of the entertainment , & at one point , Shawn threatened to walk across the stage and plant a French kiss on Patty. Patty said "It's been done" , then added "but probably not in Pittsburgh" : ) Patty also said that when she was living in Nashville for a year , working on "Flaming Red" , she saw Buddy & Julie Miller perform , & in bit of new info for me , said that they had inspired "Truth # 2". They did 5 rounds , & saved the Backstreet Boys "I Want it that Way" for the encore. Their performance of the song grew on me rapidly , & I was glad to see they kept it in. Great musical composition & great harmonies. I would have liked to hear it once w/o all the laughter , which they encourage by exaggerating some of the vocals. Still very entertaining. After that , Patty closed out the show with "Mary".
