Would have responded sooner, but have just, within the last two hours, returned to Michigan from the ACL fest. I've taken the liberty to copy Janet's post and have added my interpretations in parenthesis. In no way am I saying I'm correct....just the way I'm hearing it. Perhaps the Strawberry recording Dana is passing around, being from an FM signal (I assume) will be more definitive. On another note...standing just to my left at the show were two young ladies..one of whom was taking photos with a telephoto lens. We were standing on the left side, just under the speaker and big screen. If either of the you are reading this, would you contact me please. Thanks, Will Icicles Falling by Patty Griffin Tonight, I see something low (I sing soft and low) Just like the moon over the snow I hear icicles falling in the dark In the dark And just like anyone else Just hold a little bit Aside for ourselves And a little bit of rain make it all go (make it all grow) Maybe a minute or two to get lost in the flow (lost in the glow of love) Theres always someone throwing matches around Waving a shiny new knife The first to run when the house burns down Ive seen it every day of my life I must confess there appears to be Way more darkness than light I want to fall like a pearl to the bottom of the sea And no one will bother us tonight (no one will find us tonight) Tonight we might look pretty bad We might lose everything we thought that we had Shadows will pass Smoke it will clear Some of them survive and us around here (Something survives, and us around here) Ill be glad cause Ill know I was lost in the glow Of love Oooooh..ohh ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 23 Sep 2003 01:26:33 -0700 From: "Roy Larsen" Subject: MM: Some pictures of Patty at AC I took some pictures of Patty performing at ACL this weekend. I am not a very accomplished photographer and realized that center stage is not the best place to take shots since the mic stand always seems to be bisecting the performer. I also noticed that even if you are only 4 body rows back from the stage and you can see her big as life and very clearly, the pitiful zoom on my digital camera is, well, pitiful. But here they are in there unvarnished, uncropped glory. About 400K bytes each (my appologies to you non-broadband folks). Does anyone else hear it clearer? Dana - --------------------------------------- Hi- I listened to it a few times and wrote it up myself without your lyrics so that I would not be influenced by them and I came up pretty close to what you have too. If you are listening to a different concert track, it may sound a little different also. I think I hear: Tonite We'll sing(?)soft and low (does that even make sense????) just like the moon over the snow I hear Icicles falling In the dark, In the dark We're just like anyone else We just want a little bit aside for ourselves A little bit of rain to make it all grow maybe a minute or two to get lost in the glow of love There's always someone throwing matches around waving a shiny new knife they're the first to run when the house burns down I've seen it every day of my life I must confess there apprears to be way more darkness than light I want to fall like a pearl to the bottom of the sea where no one will find us tonite. (? call us? ) yeah. Tonite it might look pretty bad we might lose every thing we thought that we had Shadows will pass, smoke it will clear If something survives of us around here I'll be glad 'cause I know I was lost in the glow of love ooh, ooh, ooh > Just wanted to tell you that Patty was as beautiful as usual.
