The Singersongwriter concerts are very good- you should try to catch one of them if possible- I love all 4 of the girls anyway- Mary CC, Shawn and Dar as well as Patty and have seen the other 3 at least 7-8 times each in the past. Don was great company- and even drove my girls and me to NYC and back home to New Haven again before embarking on his 9 hr drive home. I know that not too many people would be that kind- I am scared of driving in NYC so I really appreciated it. Freak out is more like it. It is all the thruways going God knows where and I don't have a clue what the signs are talking about and traffic going so fast- horns honking- aghhhhhhh!!!!! I feel the same about driving in San Francisco and LA. So, Don got us there safely, early too in spite of the rain and traffic jam on 95, we ended up taking Merrit Parkway, much to my relief. Patty was lovely each concert, Sat and Sun- At Ledyard, I got a kick out of seeing her trot off stage after the encore with my bag of M&Ms from our Mad Mission list like a kid with a Hallowe'en treat goody bag- I hope that some of you can keep up the tradition at these Fall concerts. It just lets her know that we are there:) I forgot the M&Ms at home for Central Park concert, darn. I guess she had enough anyway from the night before- big bag. She did that Icicles Falling song each concert- wait till you all hear it- another chiller song- so beautiful. The girls did Mary in 4 part harmony for the encore Sun- noticeably better harmony that the night before- they must be getting into the swing of doing backup for each other as the show goes on. Very beautiful version. Well it was tropical in Ct and Ma this week with Isabel fringe weather, but it is blasted hot here in Berkeley today- I am dying here of the heat. Flew Jet Blue for the first time- great trip with them- direct flight to JFK from Oakland 5 1/2 hrs and no lines as I took the first flights of the day and was there early. Recommend them now. I visited Elaine from our list in Boston, and almost met John Higgins, but not quite- got to chat on the phone anyway. My biggest impression of my week back home was that I am an alien tourist in CA even after 4 yrs here- I am still a Yankee and miss New England. I felt at home everywhere I went there. It seems so small compared to CA. Green too. Lobster was great- so was the New Haven pizza and the potato pancakes in Brookline. Well, I have tix for San Luis Obispo and Santa Rosa shows and am awaiting tix to go on sale for San Fransisco. Hope to meet some of you there! Dana, back in Berkeley , like it or not, a Ca girl now, yup, sushi and guacomole, both of which I never tried in Ct ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 21 Sep 2003 23:20:42 -0700 (PDT) From: Amy Leonard Subject: Re: MM: Austin City Limits OHHHHHH BOYYY!!! That is an awesome song. I can't wait to actually hear it. Patty is amazing! I swear her songs just keep getting deeper and more captivating with each new one. She is truly a "golden god"! Thanks a million for making my night. I'll be on a high for at least a say or two. :) You rule!! Later, Amy- high on patty lyrics in CA - --- "Janet C. Halfway through reading it I was tearing up and when I got to the end I was crying. And I don't even know what the tune is like. Powerful stuff once again from the most amazing Patty. I can't wait until I get to see her in November (when she and the gals finally make it to northern California). Wow. *thank you* for posting that. Ah. Thanks, Steph ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 22 Sep 2003 17:00:39 +0000 From: danalee7@comcast.net Subject: MM: Icicles Falling at Strawberry weed offer Icicles Falling is on the Strawberry Music Festival concert which I am willing to send out to a few people who can make it for others so that it can go around without a major treeing effort. I tried this once before on this list about a year ago, but the people I sent it to must not have understood about a CD weed because only a couple of people actually continued the weed. We do it a lot on the Jackson Browne list. If I send it out to say 5 people, all able to burn and reweed it , they will then offer it onlist to five other people who contact them directly, not onlist . They will post something like: "I will send out Icicles Falling at Strawberry to the first five people who contact me offlist. 3 people who can burn and promise to reweed and 2 non burners." Those 3 burners will altogether then pass it on to another 15 people total who will include 9 burners and 6 non burners, the burners will pass it on to a bunch more etc. No one has to sort out a bunch of names and tree it to several hundred people. It is never offered for money of course, you can send it out gratis if you like, or people who receive it can send 2 blank 80 min Cds and Self Addressed Stamped Envelope, or even trading is always nice. This concert was taped from the Hog Radio at Strawberry which has about a 2 mile radius so that people back at their campsites can listen in. Patty closed the concert after 4 days of music- it was mostly a bluegrass crowd who did not know Patty's music, and you can notice the audience grow in enthusiasm as the concert goes on. You can also hear me and my daughter Arielle who hooing after each song- Ari does a ow ow ow thing that she does at her own rave concerts- so funny to be there and hear her. I never did it much before, but I had to there- Patty entourage responsibility you know. I sure wish I could whistle- can't tho. :) These concerts must never be sold, please remember that- Strawberry is especially concerned about that happening and I am trusting you guys to be careful about that, who you give it to. Lets see if we can do a weed and pass this one around. So- I don't want hundreds of e-mails please- just maybe 5 people who will be able to do this and pass it on. Wait til next week when hopefully this offer will resurface as a weed as I explained before and others of you can get the chance to trade or send B&P for it. Please, no more rquests accepted now. Icicles Falling in the 95 degree heat in the shade at Strawberry-?????
