"a LIVE album... is slated for release next year" woooo hooo!!! ~ Mimi ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ http://www.pollstar.com/news/viewnews.pl?NewsID=2779 Tour Of Songwriters Updated 04:32 PDT Fri, Aug 22 2003 The title is simple and sums it up: it's a Songwriter Tour. Esteemed female singer / songwriters Mary Chapin Carpenter, Shawn Colvin, Patty Griffin, and Dar Williams are hitting the road together on a tour that finds them sharing the stage, trading songs and playing together. The tour makes the theatre and music hall rounds from East to West Coast, starting September 12 and wrapping November 17. Catie Curtis will appear in Dar Williams' place October 4. All four women have been busy this year, touring behind their acclaimed albums. Chapin Carpenter is currently working on a new disc, slated for release sometime next year. Her previous work, Time*Sex*Love, was released in 2001 and came five years after Party Doll. Griffin's most recent offering, 1,000 Kisses, was released in 2001 and was nominated for a Grammy award. A live album and DVD are slated to hit the shelves in September. When she hasn't been working on her lines for TV show appearances and scoring films, Colvin has been on the road, regaling audiences with her decade-plus repertoire. This year has been a bit more tame tour-wise, with Colvin only hitting the road at the end of the summer. Williams is the lady with the most current release. came out this year and features supporters Alison Krauss, Bela Fleck, and Stefan Lessard from the Dave Matthews Band, who, incidentally, she toured with over the summer. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 22 Aug 2003 15:23:16 -0400 From: "Jim Murphy" Subject: MM: RE: Pollstar article: "Tour of Songwriters" Actually Patty's Live CD/DVD is scheduled to be released on Tuesday September 2, 2003 Murph - -----Original Message----- From: owner-mad-mission@smoe.org [mailto:owner-mad-mission@smoe.org]On Behalf Of Mooodeee@aol.com Sent: Friday, August 22, 2003 11:03 AM To: mad-mission@smoe.org Subject: MM: Pollstar article: "Tour of Songwriters" I found this linked on the FRONT PAGE of POLLSTAR this morning.... Apparently Patty needs more musical support : ) Don ************************************************************** Stayed for all of Aimee Mann I have to take issue with Scott Mervis' review of the Aimee Mann concert (Aug. 12). My wife and I both thought she was fantastic. We didn't see anyone leave until after the second encore. From the first note, It was apparent to me that this was going to be a first-rate show. It was. Patty Griffin was good, but she did it on the cheap without a band, just as she did with her last CD. As a result, the 30 to 40 minutes that she played was enough. I don't think I'd pay to see her again unless she had a little more back-up. My only complaint is that apparently you have to pay Ticketmaster's exorbitant fees to get the best seats in the house. I had purchased early at the box office and ended up in one of the side sections. I couldn't figure out who got the middle section until I asked someone sitting there and got a very simple explanation. ARNIE GREENWALD MT.
