Ok, first off as a disclaimer, Patty was not really at my wedding. At least not physically. So if you are not inclined to fits of fantasy where Ms. Griffin is concerned, then pay my email no mind and continue with your day. But metaphorically speaking, she really WAS there. First off, my wedding was held at a beautiful lighthouse in York, ME. It was a clear, warm morning and the ocean was calm. The wedding party walked down the "aisle" (which was really just grass) to Patty's One Big Love, fittingly starting with "Let's take a ride to the seaside..." Guests perused the wedding program, which included a portion of lyrics from "We are Water" on the inside cover. Last, the wedding favors were chinese fortune cookies, with messages inside that included my and my husband's names, the wedding date and the quote "She loved him like no one before, it was good to be alive." Fittingly from a song about a June wedding date, although not the happiest of endings. Believe me folks, it's hard to find a happy Patty song that will compliment a wedding day. ;) Most importantly, Patty was there with me in spirit. I remember the first time I heard a Patty song and it froze me in my tracks. She has come to be one of the most powerful impacts on my life, and in a very non-stalker like way, I love her. For sharing her gift with me, so unselfishly, I couldn't embark on one of the most meaningful ceremonies of my life without her presence on that very happy day. I just wanted to share that with the list, to the only other people on the planet who would understand why I had to have Patty with me on my wedding day. Patty, if you're out there, THANK YOU FOR COMING!! Becca _________________________________________________________________ Add photos to your messages with MSN 8. Subject: MM: Patty show this weekend Does anyone know what time Patty is performing at Willie Nelson's picnic this Saturday? I really want to go, but the website doesn't list a specific time, just noon-midnight performances. I can't stay that long, so I would like to be there around the time that she and Shawn Colvin go on. Thanks! 'my life' iris dement Hi Amber- This song you quoted is my absolute favorite Iris song (she didn't do it unfortunately) well, along with Walking Home. Frankly even tho I loved many of the singers at this festival, only Iris put that lump in my throat, hearing her do Walking Home live. It brings me back to 4 yrs ago when I divorced, sold the family home and also my parents home, both in CT and moved out to CA. I''ll never be able to go back again, or if I do, it won't be like it was. My father is dead also, and the family is scattered, my mother had a stroke and is out here in a nursing home now. If I saw my father standing at the back kitchen door, he would also just walk on out of sight. I think you have to get used to her voice, but after that, it is a perfect heartbreaking voice. She did smile pretty happily at Greg when he came onstage for her last song. Maybe there will be some happier songs coming from both of them. The Song God likes sad songs tho I think. She was very pretty and charming onstage, unpretentious in a cotton dress, nothing artificial or fancy about her. Seeing these singers live really makes a difference to me. The audience was totally supportive of her too. Dana in Berkeley ------------------------------ End of mad-mission-digest V7 #170 *********************************
