I'm not real keen on what Natalie said , but I'm very keen on people expressing their opinions. While I don't agree with this particular one , what is more important than protesting against what you think is an unjust war ? If war consumes us , all the civil rights that we revere will come to naught. The author of this assumes that their take on what's important is , of course , the correct one. Hopefully , the controversy surrounding this will bring Patty more recognition. On the 2nd paragraph , this sounds like a bit on Patty. The "wrenching longing" is one of the things that makes Patty the singular S/S that she is. That line , & the line from "Ruby's Arms" ; "Jesus Christ , this Goddamn rain , will someone put me on a train " the way she sings them , exemplifies the "wrenching longing" that is one of the significant contributions to what Patty is. There's a whole lot of singing That's never going to be heard Disappearing every day Without so much as a word Patty Griffin "Top of the World" Don there was one bit of Chicks hokum, > when the "incident" was linked to the Patty Griffin song "Truth No. 2." > While video footage of civil rights marchers and suffragettes paraded > across the screens overhanging the stage, Maines sang, "You don't like > the sound of the truth/Coming from my mouth . . .
