If Patty wrote monologues: ["Don Henn" Subject: MM: darcie miner stuff... Hi all, Okay, maybe this is me being a bit of a grouch here, but it seems that my inbox has been flooded by the mad mission digest today, which is a GREAT thing, don't get me wrong! It's even better if it is all about Patty. Unfortuanately, I have a limited space account, and it gets full easily sometimes...And if it's full of stuff about patty, that's great...But there seems to be A LOT of e-mails all about Darcie. I'm not trying to say that I don't think that is fantastic about all her successes last night...but I did sign up to this list to hear about Patty Griffin. Not to get 20 - 30 e-mails about a different person. The same sort of thing happened with the Dixie chicks a while back, and we all got the warning to stop...I think that should go for other subjects that aren't Patty. References to it are very cool, but floods of e-mails about it not so cool. Sorry to all. Didn't mean to offend...just needed to add my two cents. Thanks, doug ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 01 May 2003 20:59:28 -0400 From: Mike Connell Subject: MM: NPC - Re: darcie miner stuff... Your inbox was *flooded* with Mad-Mission digests today? You call *two* a flood? That's how many new digests were published today thus far, two. (by the way, is your account limited by actual space? Or is it number of emails, which is the norm? There are other free email services too...hotmail etc. Also, the MM list's digests can be read online at http://www.smoe.org/lists/mad-mission/ ) >I'm not trying to say that I don't think that is >fantastic about all her successes last night...but I >did sign up to this list to hear about Patty Griffin. >Not to get 20 - 30 e-mails about a different person. >The same sort of thing happened with the Dixie chicks >a while back, and we all got the warning to stop.. That was a totally different situation on a very controversial topic that people were very passionate about on either side of the fence. It really had little to do with this list or its' members. Also, if you signed up to hear about Patty and not another person, we also have the Mad-Mission-news list, which is very low volume, no discussion and Patty only (for the most part, there ARE exceptions to the Patty only part) >.I >think that should go for other subjects that aren't >Patty. References to it are very cool, but floods of >e-mails about it not so cool. > >Sorry to all. Didn't mean to offend...just needed to >add my two cents. It's OK Doug. Everyone's two cents is acceptable. However, this list is about TWO things. Patty Griffin, AND the list community....it's members. Forgetting the fact that Darcie opened for Patty for a few gigs last year (former openers are almost always welcome topics on any mailing list for a musical artist), Darcie has been a member of this list since the year it started, when Darcie was 14 I believe. Darcie was always a quite active member of this list until about a year ago when things really began to pick up for her own career. taking all that into consideration, a day or two of emails about a list member appearing on a nationally televised musical performance/competition show, and about her co-hosting a show on MTV next week, are *always* welcome, even if it floods one's inbox with two whole emails in a day, afterall, this is a very rare occurance on ANY mailing list, that being that a long-time list member and former opener for the lists' main topic appearing on national television. (Please excuse that run-on sentence) Not coming down on you Doug, but I think a little tolerance for a longtime list member living her dream for the first time on national TV and tolerance two whole emails is called for. (HER emailing list) Ok, this is in response to Doug's email... & a good time to mention this. I have started a Darcie Miner Band emailing list, on the smoe servers just like this one. This is my invitation to those interested in keeping up with all things Darcie. If interested, send an email to: Let-It-Out-request@smoe.org In the body (not the subject) of the email send the 2 line command: Subscribe End That's it, you're all signed up! If you prefer the digest version, send the same 2 line command to: Let-It-Out-digest-request@smoe.org There are few posts to the list at this time, so the loose mail version will probably be best for 99% of you. This way we can keep most of the Darcie talk to that list, making for less of it here. I too , was disappointed with the selection , hoping for "He Said" , "Am I the One", or "Cain" , but when you knocked out the panel , I figured it was a moot question. I was very disappointed when "America" disagreed. Keep on keeping on , like Patty's continuing success , it's just a matter of time.
