It is an independent public station who loves to play Patty Griffin! You can check their past playlists to see which artists they favor: http://xpn.org/playlists/ ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 16 Apr 2003 18:22:35 -0400 From: Sharon Bolton Subject: MM: RE: NPC: Dar Williams / Ben Taylor Band Show I've been on this email list for a few months now and have not felt compelled to write until now. I guess Sarah's little story about the Dar Williams Show was weird enough to share. I fell in love with Patty Griffin after a friend of a friend sang Every Little Bit at my wedding 2 years ago. That was it for me - I am 43 years old and I can't remember being this into a singer/songwriter since I was 13, hanging out in my room memorizing everything Carol King. I purchased everything Patty I could find - downloaded the chords and lyrics (I sing a few to my 9 and 11 year-old girls who know the words better than I do) joined this list and patiently I am waiting for more! Anyway, for a Valentine's Day gift I decided to find tickets to a show for my husband. Oh, the mighty internet, I was able to purchase will-call tickets for Dar Williams at the University of Vermont on April 11th. He loved the gift (he loves her!) and we decided to cut out early from work for the drive. The whole way up (from Saratoga NY) we played Dar and Patty. This is where he became a Patty fan. The concert was great - I won't get into it too much... Sarah covered it perfectly! But here's a hot tip... because our tickets were will-call, we were considered fan club and sat in one of the first three rows that were roped off for us! On the way home we listened to Dar's new CD. I loved Dar's music before but this was where I became a true Dar fan. Anyone know how to get Patty to come to Albany or Saratoga? ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 16 Apr 2003 18:30:44 EDT From: Mooodeee@aol.com Subject: Re: MM: internet radio the BEST internet radio I've found is XM Radio's "XM Cafe" there are SEVERAL XM stations i really enjoy too, but i promise you wont be disappointed!! 24-hour commercial-free programming, no payola necessary so they play whatever they want! it's great. I'm seriously thinking about getting it for the car too. http://www.xmradio.com Mimi (listening to it now in fact) ------------------------------ End of mad-mission-digest V7 #110 *********************************
