The particular track they chose ("Red Clay Halo") is not my favorite and seems more down-home country than much of her other work. For Lucy Kaplansky, you might check out Cry, Cry, Cry, the collaboration with Richard Shindell & Dar Williams. Lucy also does guest appearances on Shindell's CD's, but I don't have any of her solo work. ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 05 Apr 2003 07:56:14 -0500 From: Bruce Righter Subject: MM: MM Recommendation addendum For the Patty-lover thinking about Gillian Welch, the Chieftains new CD "Down the Old Plank Road" features each one. As much as I love both Patty & Gillian, the standout track on the CD is Alison Krauss' rendition of "Molly Bawn." ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 5 Apr 2003 08:34:11 -0500 From: "Scott Antall" Subject: MM: NPC: Aimee Mann I must disagree about Aimee Mann. I have *tried* to like her! I think I have 3 albums. But, when I saw her live in December (in Pittsburgh) I decided that I really don't like her. I think her songs are predictable and boring. And her voice is monotonous. I find her no where close to Patty's league! I hope it's ok to disagree on this list! :) Scott Antall http://www.scottantall.com/ scott@scottantall.com 412-414-5121 ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 05 Apr 2003 09:56:17 -0500 From: Bruce Righter Subject: MM: NPC Aimee Mann I tried accessing the Aimee Mann site where I thought people could download songs, but the samples can no longer be heard. Is this a temporary glitch or more permanent???? ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 05 Apr 2003 09:33:59 -0500 From: Jim Murphy Subject: MM: Patty Birthday Drive Just to let everyone know, we have sent out all the prizes to the winners of the raffle from the Birthday drive. If you are new to the list or forgot, we raised $2,150.00 in Patty's name for the VVAF's Landmine Free World Fund. Patty was really blown away by the amount donated but more than that she was proud that here fans would do something like this in her name for a great cause. As with all raffles, there are some who think the prizes suck, well attached please find a picture of the grand prize which was sent off to the winner Tim Sharpe recently How are we going to top this next year!!! Just wait??????? Peace Murph [demime 0.97c removed an attachment of type image/jpeg which had a name of Patty guitar prize winner 004.jpg] ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 6 Apr 2003 07:29:31 +0930 From: "Danny Wallace" Subject: MM: Re: NPC: Aimee Mann you are welcome to disagree but you are wrong! just kidding. i think she is amazing. my wife thinks that her songs are dull and boring. but my wife also thinks the foo fighters are first class song writers.....seriously tho if you don't get aimee mann you don't - there ain't nothing wrong with that. i also don't find her to be in patty's league but i do think she is great. btw kristin hersh's latest album "the grotto" is incredible - very stripped down (acoustic guitar, piano +some violin) and the songs are f&%king amazing. if you like her check it out. danny - ----- Original Message ----- From: "Scott Antall" To: Sent: Saturday, April 05, 2003 11:04 PM Subject: MM: NPC: Aimee Mann > I must disagree about Aimee Mann.
