I agree. They should keep their political views to themselves, and that goes for all entertainers--singers, actors, etc. They are abusing their celebrity when they get in front of a captive audience and start talking politics. That should be left to the politicians. After all, who are they to say anything? What makes them experts on our government? And it is especially sickening to see entertainers go to other countries and down-talk the leader of the greatest nation in the world. At least to outsiders, Americans should sound united right now. Especially at a time when other nations are against us--that just gives them more fuel for their fire. As for the Chicks, I really love their music, but my Chicks CDs have found their way to the garbage after I heard what they did. I've lost all respect for them. I hope their sales go down, and I hope no one pays the ridiculous ticket prices for their upcoming tour. I had got some real bad news Friday about a family member diagnosed with inoperable cancer and have just been so bummed out all weekend. I have followed Pattys career since the 2nd week Living with Ghosts came out and have flown all over the place to see her. I am usually a lurker here but I am a big fan and have other signed memorabilia from her but a guitar!!! WOW I am so thrilled. I bought LWG because I saw the artwork on the CD and read the track titles. I thought I would give her a try. I was like overwhelmed. I think I went into shock and had to hear more. I went back that night and bought a few more copies to send out. I belong to this clique of people/friends/relatiives, etc in Alpena, Michigan (no, you have never heard of it but that is where I grew up.) We all have a pact of music lovers that promise to share all new artists that impress them. Patty has been my greatest contribution to the "club" and very well received I must say. I always fly there to see her at the Ark because I love that venue and I meet friends from Alpena there too. On one of the Ark boots, you can hear someone say, "Patty, I want to bear your children." That is me. The truth is out. I will crwal back into the lurker status after I finish this in embarrasment. ANother time I went to Cluth Cargos in Pontiac. It was a Halloween night and my friends (they were engaged at the time) were supposed to drive in from ALpena and meet me there. I was flying in from SOuth Carolina. They got into a lovers quarrel and didnt make it. I met Patty that day at Borders in Ann Arbor and told here the story and that I was coming solo. She asked me if I had a ticket already. I did not. She put me on her guest list and made my trip all the more enjoyable. The next time I saw here was in Savannah openinf for Lucinda. It was the ocldest day on record ever in Savannah and it was an outdoor concert. I froze my ass off but enjoyed every minute of it. I am really looking forward to my new guitar. I bought some "learn to play guitar books" a few years back but never learned. Now I have the opportunity to learn on a guitar that Patty signed. I know it will bring me luck. I will need it because I am left handed and that seems to be a problem for those who teach guitar. Thank you for this gift. I would have made the donation anyway because I believe in the cause but this sure is a nice extra. I recall the "I want to bear your children" comment. I reported it as "bury your children" , thinking that he was alluding to the desire to be together so long that they outlive the children. Not my first embarrassing mistake , & it won't be my last. Good luck with your guitar playing , & hope we meet sometime in the future. Happy birthday to Patty !
