St. Patty's Day 2 days in a row. I'm drinking like the Irish!!! We are down to the last couple of hours for the fund drive. Please take the time now to make a donation to the VVAF or the charity of your choice in Patty's name. It will do your soul good. We will have the final results latter tonight. Thanks to everyone who has already made a donation Peace Holly and Murph ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 16 Mar 2003 16:09:16 -0500 From: Mike Connell Subject: MM: OK. List back up & running. ALL please read. Hey folks :-) OK. Game on. The list is back up and running now. I received plenty of feedback on what transpired Friday and how I decided to handle it. All but one of them were favorable. Some very good points were made and I replied to those people briefly and they understood my explanations/points (especially the behind-the-scenes things I pointed out). I wish I had the time to specifically discuss some list issues related to the reason I chose to close the list two days rather than just post "stop it and stop it now", but I simply do not have the time to due to the fact that I am in the middle of preparing for my first move in over 22 years and caring for a sick relative. For me to adequately drum up the words to clearly explain it all would take me too long, as I typically edit and re-edit and re-edit and re-edit these things. So, please play nice and try to remain on topic for the most part. Non-Patty talk is of course fine, it IS the fiber of any list to a degree, but Off-Topic/Non-Patty-Content really should be either list related, list-community related or at the very least music related. There are many other online places and mailing lists specifically for discussing off-topic issues of the day. Please seek them out. If a music issue borders on a hot-topic world issue (such as the *beginning* of Friday's Dixie Chick discussion or Patty's involvement in the land mine issue) , PLEASE keep it a music/music biz discussion and do not let it drift into what we saw occur on Friday. This simply is not the place. Mike P.S. One other thing, and I've mentioned this many times here and some people just do not get it (and by the way, this is NOT just me saying this, it's a common topic in any netiquette guideline). When you reply onlist to a post and quote the other post you are replying to, PLEASE only keep in what text you need to support your point and delete out the other quoted text. This is one of the worst lists I've ever seen with this particular "netiquette" violation and it borders on the ridiculous some days. It's bad enough wading through a post that contains a few new sentences and 500 words of quoted text, but when that same quoted text gets pre-posted and re-posted it really gets annoying and it's MUCH harder to deal with in the digest version of this list, not to mention that it wastes much hard-drive space in the smoe archives. Also, quoting text "properly" makes YOUR post more likely to be read in it's entirety once opened and/or when come upon in the digest version. For those that do not know, the digest version of this list is one large email that contains on average the previous 20 or so posts to the list. To see a couple of sample digests and how the excessive quoting makes list email and the digests much more annoying to wade through, you can see two of Fridays' archived digests at http://www.smoe.org/lists/mad-mission/v07.n080 and http://www.smoe.org/lists/mad-mission/v07.n081 ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 16 Mar 2003 17:08:27 -0500 From: Jim Murphy Subject: MM: The 2003 Patty Griffin Birthday Drive is now over Thank you, thank you, thank you, to everyone who made a donation to the fund drive. After a great 5 week run, the total donations made to the VVAF, the sponsors of the "Concerts for a Landmine Free World" in Patty's name totaled $2,150.00. This is far and away more than we thought was possible. We are thrilled with all the kindness everyone has shown for this cause. We have made up a birthday card with everyone's name on it and have sent it off to Patty. I can tell you she will also be thrilled. We hope to continue this drive every year as a way to honor Patty on her birthday. Once again thank you for your generosity Peace Holly and Murph All prize winners have been notified via email. ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 16 Mar 2003 16:45:02 -0800 (PST) From: "Douglas J.
