I am not particularly enamored of his music, but I have to say that two of his songs on "Gold" are strikingly beautiful, especially for a guy who seems to struggle with his masculinity. "La Cienega Just Smiled" and "Harder Now That It's Over" are arresting, haunting, and extremely emotionally sensitive songs. I also think the melodies are compelling. I was surprised, therefore, when I looked through the album material and saw two photos of Adams holding a gun. The guy clearly has issues surrounding his emotional "softer" side. It also seems he picks fights and occasionally gets his clock cleaned! In some ways I feel bad for the guy, as he clearly must be in quite a bit of pain. I'd be interested to hear what if others are familiar with these two songs and what they think about them.
